We have a Walt Williams, er, Joe Sampson sighting!
http://truebluecougars.com/blog/sampson-football-byu/Joe Sampson a JC transfer from San Mateo College confirmed to Truebluecougars.com that he will be arriving in Provo on June 17th. Joe recently finished a political science class that helped him earn his associates degree.
The question most fans want to know is how ready Sampson will be given the fact that he did not play all last year. According to Sampson, “I am always ready to suit up and play, I have been playing this game my whole life.” Joe also reported that he has been working with the same trainer that his cousin and former Cougar favorite Brian Logan used prior to coming to BYU. Joe said, “I have been working both speed and weight training.”
Sampson who played in a 3-4 defense at San Mateo College said he felt comfortable with his ability to come in and learn BYU’s defensive system. Joe added, “I plan on playing safety both free and strong if needed, but I played corner in college on more dominant receivers so I can help there too.”
Joe will take classes this summer to stay ahead academically. Joe’s excitement about coming to Provo and getting to know his team was evident, even over the phone. That type of enthusiasm must run in the family and will be a great ingredient to making him an instant Cougar success. So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

So I'm sitting in the airport on my way home after a weekend trip to utah. Somewhere between chaos of putting together my cousin's wedding and kissing roughly 1,000 hawaiians and samoans, I'm walking away from this thing a season ticket holder. I've always intended on getting tickets someday (was planning on it if my baby bro went there in a couple years), but certain circumstances led to my recent purchase.
These tickets have been in my family since '66. My uncle had them most of the time, but my old man took them over when my uncle moved to missouri. These are the seats we had through most of my growing up. My uncle moved back to utah a handful of years ago and took them over again, but just couldn't find room in the budget for them this year. He was crushed by the thought of losing these things, and nobody else in the family was really in the position to take them on. I'm probably not either, but I couldn't bear the thought of our family losing the seats I know from my childhood.
Obviously I can't make every game, but I'm shooting for 3 with an outside shot at 4. Excited to watch the cougs. So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

Good for you to be step up to the plate and being able to keep a family tradition alive. I would love to have a family tradition that evolved around a sportings event.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostSo I'm sitting in the airport on my way home after a weekend trip to utah. Ok, just paid for the tickets. Healthy chunk of dinero, but small price to pay for the memories of my childhood.
Donut, that's one of the three games I'm hoping to make or I would.
