This is my anecdotal observation as well. Every single 6'9"+ guy I ever knew had a mom close to or over six feet tall. Dads height was all over the place.

My kids are happy to hear this. My wife is 5'11" and I am 6'1".

I think the way you calculate predicted height (for boys) is you add 5 inches to the mom's height, average it with the dad's height, then add 1-2 inches because kids have better nutrition these days than their parents generally did so each generation gets a little taller.

My predicted height was only 5'10" and I ended up 6'4", so there is obviously some variation -- more often kids end up taller than predicted I think.

There's no proven way to predict a child's adult height. However, various formulas can provide a reasonable guess for child growth. Here's a popular example:

Add the mother's height and the father's height in either inches or centimeters.
Add 5 inches (13 centimeters) for boys or subtract 5 inches (13 centimeters) for girls.
Divide by two.
Most children will reach an adult height within 4 inches (10 centimeters) of this estimation.

Another less accurate way to estimate a child's adult height is to double his or her height at age 2.

Remember, a child's height is controlled by genetics. It's also important to note that children grow at different rates. Some children begin their growth phases early, while others are late bloomers. If you're concerned that your child isn't growing normally, consult his or her doctor. Sometimes an underlying condition affects child growth.

Seems like there used to be a BYU 2011 football conversation somewhere on this thread. I might have that wrong though. But for those of you that were focused on the riveting height/weight projection discussion, there was a spring game on Saturday. Heard it had quite a finish.

I never considered kraprooM to be in the Conejo Valley.

When I was in HS kraprooM was a tiny place that competed against Carpinteria, Ojai (Solon's wife wants to be a Nordhoff Ranger), Fillmore and San Buenaventura. kraprooM was nothing more than a smattering of citrus farms and migrant workers. It did have a JC to which FYM unable to accomplish the graduation requirements of Simi Valley High would attend. Some of those FYM matriculated to the U of U and became NFL caliber players and suddenly became such academicians that while graduating from SVHS was a bridge too far, they were able to negotiate the graduation requirements at a world renowned "RESEARCH INSTITUTION!" Now kraprooM generates serious Division 1 caliber talent frequently and San Buenaventra has become some damn national level powerhouse. I cannot even remember the conference name but they were like 1-A at the time.

Are the ones and twos on opposite teams? E.g. 1st team offense and 2nd team defense are one team and they go against 1st team defense and 2nd team offense, respectively? IOW Ones vs Ones and Twos vs Twos?

Correct - The Blue team was generally the 1st team offense and 2nd team defense. White team was 2nd team offense and 1st team defense.

I asked briefly over on CB after the game but can someone talk to me more about Spencer Hadley? When did this kid get home from his service? And how is it that he was already getting time with the 1s at LB?

I think he was getting time at the same spot as Ogletree. And he seemed to be involved in a lot of plays. With him coming on this strong already in spring shouldn't we be expecting a solid contribution come fall?

BYU has Kaevinga and Ogletree as its starters. It will then have Jorgenson and Leing Wei as back ups. Then as 3rd stringers it has Tyler Beck and hopefully a walk on. Within that top 5 are all pretty good football players. I know Tyler is still recovering from a torn ACL and that injury is likely to derail any chance he will have to start or play significantly until his senior year, but if someone that good is your 3rd string you are in good shape. Given the flexibility of Ogletree and Jorgenson to play either ILB position, it seems to me silly to not redshirt both Hadley and Stout next year.

We all knew from his time as a freshman how much Bronco loved him, but I at least didn't expect that he'd be performing this well as recently removed from his mission as he is. Is he going to be better than Tree at the end of fall camp? If it looks like he might have a chance to be one of the best 3 ILBs on the team this year then isn't it worth just playing him?

I, and Goat, have been pimping Spencer for 4 years. I watched him play a ton in HS. He played at a small school made up of Mormon farm kids and Mexicans. He was a man among boys in HS. However, it was obvious even as a 16 YO he has a great understanding of angles, leverage, and a game situations. He is also exceptionally smart and very personable. He returned from his mission in December. By all accounts, he was also an exceptional missionary.

I fully expected him to start someday, but I'm a little surprised he is already getting action with the ones this soon after his mission and with such a strong group of LBs

Bronco offered his younger brother Matt after his soph year. Supposedly he was both offensive and defensive MVP at BYU's camp last summer.

Remember all the hype Mendenhall gave Jorgenson last summer? I think Hadley is going to be good. I don't think he will be good next year. I think there are at least 4 players ahead of him who at the worst will be good next year. I also think one of the 4 players ahead of him will be very good and that one of the 4 players ahead of him will be excellent.

Hadley and Stout will get their chance to start together for back to back years and carry on some exceptional LB play. That chance just won't come for two more years. They can wait.
