  • I like Matthews as the first guy in for an OL at every position besides C instead of starting at LG. Better to get Reynolds comfortable there because he will likely be manning it for the next 3 years.

    • Redshirts,

True freshman offensive lineman Ryker Mathews (who played in spring) will also play this season, as one of the top six players for five rotation spots on the line. In addition, true freshman Austin Heder is likely to play at either linebacker or fullback, or "maybe both, and special teams," says Mendenhall. "It might be a Iona Pritchard-type freshman season. He might be able to play some fullback, be a #3 at Mike, and be on some special teams. Wednesday we'll make a decision on him."
All other new players are headed for the scout team and a potential redshirt season. They are:
      RB Adam Hine
      WR Terrenn Houk
      QB Alex Kuresa
      S Gavin Fowler
      DL Moses Kaumatule
      DL Baker Pritchard
      S Teu Kautai
      OLB Lene Lesatele
      ILB Va'a Niumatalolo
      TE Stehly Reden
      ILB Manoa Pikula
One player that is also not RSing is Joe Sampson.

      • With the Pritchard injury, Austin Heder may see some snaps at FB, per Bronco (via Wrubells twitter)

Didn't Joe Sampson RS the extra year he took at a JC to become elgible to play?

Regardless, I think Sampson will be a starter by the 2nd week. I think it likely that Hague will be as well.

From your lips. Uale may know how to get the others in position but he sacrifices that for often being out of position himself. My guess is Hague simply has a much better natural feel for the position while Uale has the technical aspects down.

I think Uale missing so much practice time has actually allowed him to hold onto his co-starter spot longer than if he'd been suiting up every day. Bronco isn't going to hand over the starting FS spot to Hague with Uale out injured, but I too think Hague will be the guy early in the season.

              • Heder seems to have impressed.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

My guess/hope is that since Uale has been injured Bronco wants to not have him lose his starting role due to injury and that by the time Uale is healed (perhaps +1 week) he will officially be demoted.

                  • So can anyone summarize the current depth chart or does anyone have a link to the depth chart?
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Sprained ankle. I understood that it was minor.
