You make public records requests for your job? You are either a real estate agent or an admin assistant at a tort lawyer's office, but I can't tell which just yet.Originally posted by Scratch View PostGo Fighting PAC12s!
The public records requests (technically not FOIA, because that's federal) are something that I do fairly regularly in connection with work, so I know how to do them and they are extremely easy to do. FYI, my "hounding" of athletic departments is not the only time I do this. Because it's so simple, I do it quite a bit whenever some interesting bit of news dealing with a public entity pops up. It's amazing the insights that can be learned that you would never get from the formal, traditional news sources. In other words, it's not just BYU, although I will admit that I am intrigued by BYU's Independence experiment and where it will lead.
Out of curiosity, would you rather have me not post tidbits like this when they apply to what is being discussed? I don't spend much time on this board, but I saw the comment and thought the poster would be interested in a little more in-depth insight.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Ask him if he went to law school. If yes, it's about a 90% chance that he's a realtor.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostYou are either a real estate agent or an admin assistant at a tort lawyer's office, but I can't tell which just yet."Sure, I fought. You care more about BYU scheduling that I do. Lol at you being "intrigued"/ (obsessed) with BYU's independence. Thanks for caring!Originally posted by Scratch View PostGo Fighting PAC12s!

So, uh, no ongoing relationship and future games with a neutral in Invesco and a trip to Provo and a second game in Lincoln like was speculated on Cougarboard?Originally posted by jay santos View PostNebraska AD: do you want a 2 for 1 or a one time money game?
Tom: I'm out of town, and we're independent and are seriously screwed when it comes to scheduling and when Nebraska calls, we ought to jump through hoops to get it done, but I'm just not feeling like working, so I'll get back to you when i get back to you.
5 days later
Nebraska AD: so what do you think?
Tom: hold on, I am working today, so let me ask Bronco
Tom: looks like Bronco said no to the 2 for 1, but he'll do the one time money game.
Nebraska AD: OK done (wondering why he didn't just call Bronco's secretary instead of the AD)
SAY IT AIN'T SO!?!?!?!?!?!!
I hear that we're big time, and that the phone is ringing off the hook. I thought this would come to fruition right now.
But, BYU is in a great spot (according to many I've heard on the internets)Will donate kidney for B12 membership.

Wow. Scratch has really touched a nerve with some of you. I usually prefer to just sit back and watch the slow, steady independence meltdown occur naturally, just needling you guys from time to time, but it is fun to watch someone catalyze the process."In conclusion, let me give a shout-out to dirty sex. Good for you. Some here seem so conditioned by their BYU education to be frightened of anything that threatens their worldview that they lash out and make personal attacks on the messenger. More time on cougarboard than Indy? That hurts.Originally posted by Green Monstah View PostI like it, quite frankly.

My time on CB is very sporadic these days. More of my time is here these days. I would take that as more of a diss on CB than a compliment to CUF.Originally posted by DU Ute View PostMore time on cougarboard than Indy? That hurts.

It really depends on our access to the 7th bowl game. If we don't have access then I think we need to join the Big East, start playing nice with others, and use our facilities to help our conference situation.Originally posted by Coach McGuirk View Postwhat's your alternative?
We're not going to get an undefeated season playing a bunch of one and done's at top 20 program's stadiums. Plus, it's disappointing to the season ticket holders to see all of the good games we get be on the road. I get next season is a nice schedule, but is that a watershed for indy or something consistent? We haven't shown any ability to get good teams to come to our place without a 2/1, and multiple teams are wanting to cancel games with the changing landscape.
If we had a bunch of teams lining up to play 1/1 matchups with the occasional one and done or neutral game, it would be one thing, but the only team with any name that wanted a 1/1 is GaTech, and they opted out. Utah wants less games, ND has an uneven agreement with us, and there's rumors of those games being cancelled as well. Boise's a good long term get, but their coach didn't sound like he wanted to play all the games that have been agreed to as well.
Swallow the pride and join the Big East. Win that league and you'll be the highest rated team and will get access to a BCS type of game against the P12 or B12 #2, and that's a decent prize. There's plenty of opportunities for "exposure" by playing the teams in the BE. There's games on the East Coast, San Diego, and Texas in that league. I get it's not ideal, and if we can swing a B12 invite, great, but I think we bungled that up as well. Will donate kidney for B12 membership.

Sweet, academic and employment smack. And FWIW (admittedly very little), I am neither a tort lawyer nor a realtor (nor do I pump Lenny Gomes's gas). Then again, I don't really see how pumping gas or being a realtor is such a horrible thing warranting derision. (See what I did there?)

1. We already have a guy who overuses parentheses (me).
2. Nothing wrong at all with being an attorney or a realtor. It's just that this board has a lot of threads about the dearth of job prospects for law students. It's a neat little board (community even) and obsessive "smack" doesn't play here like it might elsewhere. (I did find your emails interesting though.)"Sure, I fought.
