I think that's a pretty good schedule, tough, but manageable. If we make it through September with a winning record I think we'll be set for a pretty sweet season.Originally posted by LiveCoug View PostMy TV guesses:
Sept. 3 at Ole Miss ESPNU
Sept. 10 at Texas ESPN
Sept. 17 Utah ABC
Sept. 23 Central Florida ESPN 2
Sept. 30 Utah State ESPN 2
Oct. 8 San Jose State BYUTV
Oct. 15 at Oregon State FSN
Oct. 22 Idaho State BYUTV
Oct. 29 Bye
Nov. 5 at Louisiana Tech HMMMMM
Nov. 12 Idaho ESPNU
Nov. 19 New Mexico State BYUTV
Nov. 26 Bye
Dec. 3 at Hawaii ESPN2
Has there been anything specific said about Bowl tie-ins?Dio perdona tante cose per un’opera di misericordia

Holmoe didn't mention any specific bowl, but he said they are working hard to get a bowl tie in. He did say that if BYU were bowl eligible, they would get something next year.Originally posted by pellegrino View PostI think that's a pretty good schedule, tough, but manageable. Hawaii will probably be on ESPN since that is championship game day and those games will be on ABC. LaTech will prob be ESPN3.
I hope we told Hawaii that the game needs to start at a reasonable time and not 11 PM Mountain.Get confident, stupid

In a year BYU's going to the New Mexico bowl, I think all the worries people have about bowl tie-ins for an independent BYU are pretty silly.Originally posted by LiveCoug View PostHolmoe didn't mention any specific bowl, but he said they are working hard to get a bowl tie in. BYU has that option but Holmoe mentioned a couple of times in the last few months that BYU likely would stick with just 12 games because of their unique travel schedule next year. While only having 5 road games, 3 of them are in Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas, with the last one being in Hawaii.Originally posted by Jarid in Cedar View PostDon't you get an extra game if you go to Hawaii?
What I find interesting is instead of scheduling the 13th game...they put an additional bye in the schedule instead.

If I'm including Hawaii and Ole Miss as tough games for BYU, then Utah's juggernaut '04 nonconf schedule of TAMU, @Arizona, @USU, and UNC compares."I don't know the origin of said bitch booming."-Art Vandelay

Maybe, maybe not. Ole Miss was 9-4 the last 2 years. We don't know how they'll be next year. UNC was in the middle of a decade without a winning season in 2004. And they didn't play all the top 25 teams that Ole Miss played.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View Post@ UNC is = @ Ole Miss.

I give this schedule a D. But A for the effort.
We don't play a meaningful game after mid October. That's when college football is supposed to be getting good. I know this is going to be a huge challenge for Holmoe, but if he can't make the last half of the schedule compelling, the whole thing is a terrible idea.
Utah not playing us at the end of the season is a bummer for us but brilliant for them. That's a crushing blow to our scheduling strategy.

This is when our series with Notre Dame needs to take place. The back end of their schedule is often lackluster as well.Originally posted by jay santos View PostI know this is going to be a huge challenge for Holmoe, but if he can't make the last half of the schedule compelling, the whole thing is a terrible idea.
This year, Notre Dame closed with
Western Michigan
Navy
Tulsa
Utah
Army

Boise State has the exact same schedule and every year they are in the hunt for a BCS bowl. They lucked out this year because Nevada was good (although it turned out to be unlucky, actually) but at the beginning of the season, everyone lamented that BSU's schedule did not have a meaningful game after the first couple of weeks..the same thing you are complaining about now, basically verbatim. Yet BSU was in the National Championship talk until the final seconds of the Nevada game.
BYU's schedule next season is BETTER than BSU's schedule this season or any other season. What is the problema?Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

I don't care for the Boise model. And if you're going Boise model, you have to go all the way. One hard game at the beginning of the season, and the rest creampuffs. You're guaranteed 10-2 even in your worst season. You can fool a lot of the nation and especially your own fan base and keep their interest if you're 10-2.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View Post
