Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

Scratch is smarter than all of you put together. I have a few of his posts printed and on a shelf here in my office.

The old saying goes something like, I don't care if my name is mentioned negatively, just as long as it is mentioned.

Perhaps that is why "they" are more concerned about being seen as often and as many places as possible and whether they win or not isn't that relevant.

In my next post I'll link to emails (recorded on papyrus fragments) where Tom Holmoe refers to BYU football as his wife.

I would love for BYU to come
Down to Texas and play us
              In a game
              Of football.
              Two for one though.

Nebraska AD: do you want a 2 for 1 or a one time money game?

Tom: I'm out of town, and we're independent and are seriously screwed when it comes to scheduling and when Nebraska calls, we ought to jump through hoops to get it done, but I'm just not feeling like working, so I'll get back to you when i get back to you.

                  5 days later

Nebraska AD: so what do you think?

Tom: hold on, I am working today, so let me ask Bronco

Tom: looks like Bronco said no to the 2 for 1, but he'll do the one time money game.

Nebraska AD: OK done (wondering why he didn't just call Bronco's secretary instead of the AD)

                    • This is surprising because I thought that Bronco usually prefers to go for 2 instead of 1.

                          • I'm still chuckling that Ute PAC12 fans have been pouring over BYU future schedules and hounding athletic departments across the country with FOIA requests to get the dirt on BYU scheduling. Way to go, guys.

                              Go Fighting PAC12s!

The public records requests (technically not FOIA, because that's federal) are something that I do fairly regularly in connection with work, so I know how to do them and they are extremely easy to do. FYI, my "hounding" of athletic departments is not the only time I do this. Because it's so simple, I do it quite a bit whenever some interesting bit of news dealing with a public entity pops up. It's amazing the insights that can be learned that you would never get from the formal, traditional news sources. In other words, it's not just BYU, although I will admit that I am intrigued by BYU's Independence experiment and where it will lead.

Out of curiosity, would you rather have me not post tidbits like this when they apply to what is being discussed? I don't spend much time on this board, but I saw the comment and thought the poster would be interested in a little more in-depth insight.

Too bad Notre Dame's not a public school. I would love to see the emails between Tom and ND's AD that confirm our status as ND's partner.
