    SEC isn't dropping Vandy

You have me on ISU and KSU,
What will Baylor do if the Big 12 isn't there? Can they take the legal route if not other conference wants them? That is why I think Baylor is left out. They don't bring anything to the table.

You might be correct with Vandy not getting dropped which is why I think a couple of Big East teams will be left in the cold as well.

I don't think Texas will go to the PAC and give up their LHN. The rumor is OU is starting their own network as well. I wouldn't be surprised if ND also starts up their own network as well in the near future. Which conference will allow BYU, Texas, OU, and ND to keep their networks?
It looks like OU's network is more than just a rumor...

While rival Texas has been rolling out its Longhorn Network, top-ranked Oklahoma has been working to expand its television capabilities, too.

Reporters were given a tour Tuesday of the university's SoonerVision HD production rooms that have been expanded through $5 million in improvements in recent years. With fiber-optic cables connecting the school's athletic venues to side-by-side control rooms, Oklahoma plans to broadcast and webcast dozens more sporting events this year in high definition.

"It allows us to do broadcast quality. That's the thing I don't think a lot of people realize is that five years ago our webcasts were one camera at a game, at a volleyball match, and we're still doing some of that," said Brandon Meier, the executive director of video production.

"Now more of our webcasts are going to look like broadcasts that you're going to see at home with all of the bells and whistles and the replays and the score bug. We've gone from the one-camera setup to the 32-person broadcast setup to make that happen."

The expansion is another step toward the school's ultimate goal of launching its own around-the-clock network in a quickly expanding television marketplace for college sports.
Also, Kansas State and other Big 12 schools are taking steps to add their own network as well...

Kansas State became the latest Big 12 school to launch a similar package Tuesday with the creation of its K-StateHD.TV online channel.

"I think every school is investigating an Internet distribution system," Oklahoma State University President Burns Hargis said in a recent interview. "With the emergence and evolution of Internet television now, it probably behooves us all to get very serious about an Internet network."

        • Let me just make this clear...... I am not saying BYU isn't worthy of being included. I am saying that if the Big-12 doesn't make it and the super conferences do happen, BYU could get left out because of where it sits geographically.

I think my point with Baylor is, when you start summarily kicking haves out and making them have nots, LOTs of senators and congressman are going to be called into action.

geographically, politically, academically...etc etc. Basically the Pac 10 sensibilities would probably crush us.

I see what you are saying.

I honestly don't know what is going to happen and to be quit honest, I don't think anyone does. I do think there is going to be a change in the landscape of college football over the next 2 years and who knows how it is going to play out.

Uncle Ted makes a good point that if having your own TV network becomes the next big thing in college football, the Big 12 is ahead of the game. That alone might help stability. Once teams get their own networks, they're not going to give them up easily to join a super conference. Perhaps the push towards super conferences actually creates a few more independents.

BYU will be just fine in the Big 12 along with ND. With the anchor teams of Texas, OU, ND, and BYU the Pac 12 should be worried about some of their better teams being poached for the Big 16 super conference.

True enough. I just think it is easier to keep people out but to start kicking people out. Ruh oh. Even if it isn't truly kicking them out.

Sounds like Texas and OU don't want to be a part of someone else's super conference, they want their own.

If you had to put percentages on it, I'd put chances of Texas in Pac-Whatever at 70%, remaining in Big 12 at 30%. #ut

Its much easier (as I believe you just alluded) to avoid hurt feelings (or legal action) by forming a new superconference. If the ACC raids the Big East, there's no way Rutgers can force their way in with a lawsuit. Neither can Iowa State, since Iowa is in a different conference (unless the Iowa legislature tries to get the B1G to take ISU too). Kstate and KU is a little more difficult.
