Advantages of the Norte

Being 'relegated' to the North would be AWESOME. BYU would be the favorite to win it in football every year - and facing the winner of the Red River Shootout every year in a prime-time exclusive Big XII Championship game.

And Big XII north basketball would make BYU BB tickets the hardest 'get' in town.

'Relegation' to the Big XII North? You COMPLETELY fail to understand what the benefits of the Big XII would actually be!

Outside of the Big East, the Big 12 Norte in its old configuration was the easiest ticket to a BCS game available. Basically, a two game schedule: 1-beat UNL, 2- beat OU/Tejas on a neutral field. Missoura/KSUck/CU all road that ticket. KU even made a BCS game by losing the Norte one year. And w/out UNL, BYU might dominate the Norte w/ Missoura/KU/KSuck bidding to challenge the Cougars. I cannot imagine a better place for BYU Football if the goal is a BCS game.

As far as MBB, which game will draw more on a Saturday in the Wasatch Valley: 1-KU/BYU at the Marriott Center (sp?) 2-UCLA/UU at the Huntsman Center? I'll guarantteya we'll pack BYU's gym. KU Bastketball always plays in a sold out house. No matter what the price.

I think the peddling around in a shitty ass schwinn is an Uchtdorf reference and the skydive naked from a aeroplane is a Motley Crue song (though I'm not sure what that has to do with anything). In any event, I agree, it's awesome.

The Motley Crue line from "Kickstart my Heart" is just one of my favorites and........there is a rumour that the drummer for the Crue would never have a Ned Flanders moment wrt footlong hotdogs while watching Ron Jeremy ply his wares. Such endowment contrasts with the male camel toe of the USU Aggie faithful who are likely to make up some story that the Big 12 wanted them but BYU and Baylor conspired agin'em' at some inter-faith brouhaha and will thus whine until their packages resemble the male camel toe demonstrated by Air Supply in those tight 1980's acid washed jeans. And yes I might have wacked it in the U of U M'batorium while "Here I am the one that you love" wafted gently over the airwaves!

But you got the Uchtdorf reference....it is the difference of only a few degrees!

For the record President Uchtdorf is my fave. They should just let him and Elder Holland do all the talking and then replay old Elder Wirthlin and President Hinckley talks.

I cannot imagine what's left of the Norte block agreeing to anymore Texas soap operas. It is probably the one demand that they'll make in this game. If the Big 12 expands, it will not be Houston or Rice or SMU.

Sunday play is the one thing that can derail this.

Ya'll having some standards might even help the old Pig Farmer down at UT in his quest to unify the Domers and the Nutless Bovines in the same conference. I believe the priests up in South Bend would be encouraged by a conference that respects one's religion.

Besides, no Sunday play will only suck for the Cougars. KU Baseball/Softball will have to do a double header once a year. Ya'll will be doing it every week. KU often schedules womyn's basketball games in AFH right afore a MBB game to get their attendance up. I'd imagine this might even help BYU womyn's basketball's road attendance marks. The workarounds are endless. Won't be an issue as long as the Cougars contribute their share to the pile of money.

I am not sure what it means, but it is apparent that Chip is very well connected in Austin. It seems like Texas uses him to leak info at times. I wouldn't call him a puppet. He is pretty rough on our athletic dept.

I will not say ND is a shoe-in, but there have been a lot of talks going on between DeLoss and Swarbrick for some time.

I do know BYU comes up every time names are mentioned. And I know OU isn't sitting here quietly if they thought the BIG 12 was about to go under.
I expect that as soon as Baylor gets done plundering Texas A&M for ever dime it can, things will start to heat up. Most indications show that it will come down to BYU saying yes or no.

As for Houston/TCU/SMU/Rice, they don't bring anything to the conference so nobody sees that happening. BYU on the other hand brings in a whole new market and strength of schedule (TCU could be argued here but they already have a contract in the BIG EAST and they don't bring in any TV's)

BYU/Missoura will be a fun rivalry. Missourians w/ their meth labs, firewowks stands, walnut bowls, interstate strippers been a blight on Kansas' eastern border have been holding the country back for far too long. BYU's help in putting the ourang-outangs in their place would be appreciated.

After the second week of the season Bevo will be consumed with getting another chance to finally beat BYU. We will haunt them in the dreams and wherever they go, we will follow just so they can finally get that vaunted win over the BYU. In their defense IIRC, we always had really experienced top tier BYU qbs when we beat them! I mean honestly 7 habits of highly successful to Chuck Cutler, a future Mission President? I continue to believe that ND, BYU, OU, and Texas are cooking up something to replace aTm. ND doesn't have the anger at the B-12 that it has toward the B-10. ND's money and guarantee is losing some of its shine as they are mired in difficult schedule mediocrity. A recreation of the B-12 North with ND and BYU would actually be a better division than the Big-12 North with Nebraska and Colorado. The new Big-12 would just have to add one more team in the South to get this done. I don't know who that might be but it would be sick.
