No way they make that move without a wink wink agreement. They are not BYU and could not survive independence. The 12th man advantage would disappear forever.

The way it is worded it seems aTm is leaving conditionally based on getting into another conference. Maybe the Big 12 will honor this but still make they pay the exit fee to come back to the fold.

In my view, that is (Texas A&M leaving) exactly what needed to occur for BYU to join the Big 12. If there were another program to pair BYU with, the Big 12 would have expanded back to 12 teams. But since Texas (and Baylor) wouldn't accept TCU, BYU was left at the alter. Now that A&M is out the door, the Big 12 needs BYU.

The Big 12 needs BYU or ND. It really should think about expanding back to 12 teams.

I'm not sure the Aggies are as crazy as some think. Armed with the LHN, the Longhorns have yet another tool to beat the Aggies over the head with and they already have almost every advantage over Texas A&M. It's a bold move (and perhaps a crazy one) but Texas A&M is trying to "change the game". The gamble is that Texas A&M will be able to recruit Texas blue chippers with the allure of playing in the SEC and still going to college in Texas. At present, these blue chippers are all pretty much signing with Texas or with LSU or Alabama if they want to play in the SEC.

IMHO, the aggies put themselves into a bad position by going too far in debt with their athletics program. If they weren't $18M in debt they could have been in a better position to add their own sports network like OU and Kansas St. are doing.

As far as recruiting Texas blue chippers goes I am not sure if it is going to help aTm a lot to go to the SEC. It is all about having a winning program. What Texas blue chipper is going to want be part of a team that may get to the SEC conference championship once in about 15 years. It is seems that having aTm in the SEC will help the other SEC teams with recruiting Texas blue chippers more than it will help the aggies.

BTW, speaking of Texas blue chippers in the SEC, I see that Allen's QB has given his verbal to Bama. Allen really looked nice in their opener. I am hoping to make it out to a few more Allen games this year.

Nebraska is making a similar gamble in their move to the Big Ten. They weren't going to often defeat Texas and OU using players that the Longhorns and Sooners didn't offer. Instead, the Huskers hope to get the occasional Texas player who wants to play in the Big Ten as well as continue to recruit California, Florida, and midwestern players who want to play in the Big Ten.

It seems Nebraska did fine in the Big 12...

I hope they maintain this winning percentage in the Big ten now that their texas recruit pipe may have less of a flow.

Not going to happen.... Perry is running the show in Texas right now but we are hoping to get rid of that aggie as well by electing him president. After that we can start redirecting aTm's funds to more deserving schools.

Baylor would sue if the Big 12 evaporated and left them pleading to be in the C-USA. I sure hope Elder Holland talked some sense into those baptist, however.

I'm so tired of this 4 conference 64 team crap. Its not going to happen. Some douche just picked the number 4 and 64 because its the only numbers they knew how to make a playoff bracket with.

The Bowls arn't going away. Money is driving all of this. BYU will be included because when you get slapped in the face with a stack of hundreds you pay attention.
