Right. In some respects Oklahoma is more desirable because it lacks the lonestar complex. However, there's no denying that the real prize is Friday Night Lights recruiting.

I think the Friday Night Lights recruiting is overblown. The SEC has managed to win 5 straight BCS title games without it.

So does this mean that the Sooners are "running" from the Longhorns like one of their former conference rivals. Or maybe there is something to this "conference stability" reasoning as stated by a certain Hall of Fame coach and current AD.

BTW, agree that Oklahoma will always recruit successfully in Texas as long as the Sooners are winning. My fear is that OU begins to have greater success in California (in addition to Texas) if they join the PAC-12.

On 1280 during drive home, Monson talked about scuttlebutt about how the old PAC-8 really want to reform. The AZ interlopers never really have been accepted as 'real' PAC material.

If that were the case, I could see BYU joining the PAC as part of a 16-team conference. The old PAC-8 would be one division (USC, UCLA, Stanford, Cal, Oregon, OreSt, Wash & WashSt) , and the new guys - BYU, Utah, Colorado, AZ, AZSt, Texas, OK & OK St. What a fantastic conference that would be!

The guys in BYU's division have no problem with the LDS thing. The other guys only have to play them every 4 years or if they meet them in a conference championship - only actually on their campus every 8 years. That's not SUCH a huge deal...

If BYU were put in a division outside of the original PAC-8 teams, I think they might go for it. In a 16-team league, teams in different divisions are really only loosely affiliated.

+1. Viking's source may be full of shit. Hell, Viking may be too. But maybe not. So let him speak. We are adults around here, or at least should be.

I'm not really attacking Viking, but seeing people's hopes getting up based on the BS he's throwing out there. I don't see why people would want to troll their fellow fans with something like this.

Considering that Sooners won as many conference titles as all the other teams combined, I think it's likely the other way around. Those Lonestar egos don't like playing second fiddle.

The BYU to the PAC12 thing may seem like BS initially but it can also make sense on some levels. If the PAC12 is in a rush to become the first of the super conferences putting aside two schools problems with BYU may not be as huge of a deal as everyone likes to think. Money will rule the day and one thing BYU can bring in is dough. SDSU, UNR, UNLV, BSU, FSU SJSU, and whoever else is in the west make far less sense than BYU in a future PAC16 both from money and competitive standpoints. It may be enough for the majority of the schools to tell Cal and Stanford to stick it. This is especially true if UT, OU, and OSU decide they want to package themselves with BYU for entrance.

Son, this place is populated with the Who's Who of CB trolls. This is the freaking hall of fame. So I think we're capable of taking care of ourselves, although I thank you for your concern.

I personally don't think Viking is trolling anyway. He may be wrong or right, but he's wrong or right in good faith.

Texas is the high maintenance buxom blonde who is totally full of herself. OU is just as pretty, more modest and down to earth and the girl you ultimately marry.
