If there is a march to 16, in that whomever is regulating the playoff decides that the "champions" of the 4 major 16 team P4 conferences gets a first round bye in the football playoff the Pac will have to expand. I am thinking that if they have to, having a presence in Texas looks more attractive to them than BYU or Boise State. If the Pac expands it will not be because they want to-it will be because external forces are forcing their hand.

Huh? I'm not sure what you mean by "recognize" in this context.

What is weird now that OU and UT are (almost) out of the big 12 Kansas is now one of the top (if not the top) revenue earners in the conference. Only Baylor and TCU may be higher. (Being private we don’t exactly how much they earn.).

            • Random factoid: Kentucky has had a winning record in the SEC games only 8 times since the conference was founded in 1933. 8 times in 88 years. Wow.

As this round of conference musical chairs gets more interesting, anyone that makes the argument "Team Foo should join conference Bar so that they 'have a chance at winning a conference/national championship'" is someone you can pretty much safely ignore. No matter what a school might might say publicly, they join or stay in conferences for the money, not to 'have a chance at winning a championship'.

UT would be dumb to entertain anything from the PAC... It would be a step down from the Big 12:

Mizzou is super lucky to have been invited to the SEC when it happened. If that were happening today, it would be OK-State, not Mizzou.

OK State will not be in the B1G. I love all these "exploring options" tweets. That and five bucks will get you a ham sandwich.

You can be expelled from BYU if you are gay and marry. This will cause some Universities to point out the discrimination and that will sink our battleship. Now...as a religious organization, BYU has the right to enforce whatever rules they want. They also accept the consequences of that action as well.

Ahh, got it. If in this context Katie meant "BYU doesn't recognize gay marriage from a religious standpoint and therefore considers married gay students to be in violation of the law of chastity even though BYU recognizes their marriage as legal according to the laws of the state" then that makes sense.

Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

                        • The DeathStar conference...

Analysis: If SEC adds Texas and Oklahoma, the conference could generate as much revenue as NCAA

A 16-team Southeastern Conference that includes Texas and Oklahoma would be such a financial powerhouse that its revenue quickly would become equivalent to the NCAA’s, a USA TODAY Sports analysis of conference and association financial records shows.

The figures and timing would depend on the speed at which various developments occur, beginning with when the schools depart the Big 12 Conference after taking the initial step Monday of notifying the conference that they will not be renewing their grants of media rights following expiration in 2025. There also are questions related to television entities’ reaction to the expected moves and the College Football Playoff’s proposed expansion to 12 teams.

However, based on the documents and interviews with industry experts familiar with the finances and revenue capabilities of Power Five conference schools, a path can be drawn to a 16-team SEC with Texas and Oklahoma having close to $1.3 billion in revenue for its 2024-25 fiscal year. That’s likely where the NCAA will be, assuming it remains on schedule for the payout from its multi-media and marketing rights agreement with CBS and Turner for the Division I men’s basketball tournament to increase to $990 million in what would be the first year of an extension made in March 2016.

I though that was satire given the timing of such an immaterial agreement, but no, it’s straight from the PAC12 website

"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Wrong. The problem is broader than this. Katy nailed it. "Recognize" is the right word. The LDS Church doesn't recognize LGBTQ as a thing--it's just reduced to the medieval status of sin, moral weakness. LDS deny LGBT identity and humanity.
