Face it the Pac-10 knows that their fans are going to be very disappointed by the booby prize that is Utah. So they are going to wait as long as possible to invite them until everything dies down. Larry Scotts head is on a platter right now he made huge promises to the school presidents and ADs and he has not delivered at all. Now they have to share their revenue with 2 teams that will actually bring them down financially, academically, and athletically.

Another problem for Larry Scott is that the Big 12-2 took away a lot of potential television contract money from two big networks: ABC/ESPN and Fox. There will be less money in these networks pockets to pay other conferences and the Pac-10's contract is coming up for renewal.

BYU and their fans will have to live absent the delusion of superiority. They are going to have to approach their detested rival as an underdog, which isn't all bad. But it's new to them; superiority complex has been a basic element of their coping and survival mechanisms. This is not the end of the world for them. Just the end of the world they believed was, but what they have believed never has been real; it's been a delusion.

So not much need change, the Utes have always been better and this is just confirmation of it. Actually, this could really make BYU stronger, which is somewhat scary. It helps a lot to confront reality. If it doesn't kill BYU it will make them stronger.

Yes but if you approach ESPN and say I know you just gave 12 billion dollars to the Big12-2, and that the top school in our conference over the last decade is about to lose 30 scholarships over the next 3 years and is banned from post season play, oh and that we are a very overrated football conference to begin with but we did just add Utah who traditionally (as in over the past 5 seasons) has been a big time power in the Mountain West, not to mention Colorado who has 2 wins in the past 3 seasons against D-1 teams. How much will you give us for the rights to broadcast our games?

There is reason for hope among BYU fans and worry among Ute fans. The PAC might look at the Big 12 getting a richer TV contract and possibly a championship game with only 10 teams and wonder why they are adding programs. So take heart, myboynoah! This may yet fall apart. As always, I will celebrate when the ink is dry on the contract. (Well, maybe when the invitation is announced.)

Utah is gone, so rest at ease. It would be better for the rest of its longtime partner schools for it to stay, but that won't happen. The MWC was bulding something from the ground up that we could all be proud of. That will go on. I believe that over time Utah will regret moving from it's MWC friends, especially BYU. I sincerely believe that.

But I still like you, LA.
