No, it was Todd Christiansen smack. You obviously have never watched The Mtn. Speaks volumes.

          • For me the facts are pretty simple. BYU was and has been passed over by the Pac-10 because of the issues BYU brings to the table. Utah doesn't have the baggage the Cougars have. BYU has the following baggage (1) black eye related to blacks in the priesthood; (2) negative public perception associated with a university attached to a cult; (3) refusal to play sports on Sunday; and (4) recent association with the anti-homosexual marriage group. Whether or not you agree with these issues as they are stated, they are nonetheless the issues. Interestingly, none of these items are problems when the sport is volleyball and the conference affiliation is loose. Full affiliation makes it another story.

A bucket of KFC doesn't work for the Pac-10+1+(1?). They have to split that chicken evenly 11 or, maybe, 12 ways. No one there is stuck with the wings. In the Big 12-2, Mizzou, OSU, KSU, etc. get wings. A&M, OU and UT get the boneless breast pieces. UT also gets a leg and extra gravy.

We already knew that he doesn't watch sports but instead waits with baited breathe (and a thesaurus) the imminent demise of the LDS church.

I sincerely believe that.

But I still like you, LA.

The only thing that is storied about the Utah basketball program is the number of stories it has fallen as of late.

That was brutal. But I still like you too. Pretty much. Sorta.

Actually, that's one of the more exciting things about this potential jump to the PAC-10. Turning around a basketball program only take 1 or 2 guys. I think Boylen can get those guys now, and the PAC-10 seems to be equivalent of the MWC, if not easier (Washington's pounding of New Mexico notwithstanding).

So that make Baylor a university attached to a cult religion as well? I don't think they have any of the other problems you mentioned.

As some know there was a conference call among MWC schools this afternoon. Utah participated and at that point gave notice to the MWC that it was ending its association with the conference.

In furtherance of this, President Young has been in meetings today in Oakland and the deal is done. Utah will announce this tomorrow. Interestingly, this will become effective for the 2011 season for Utah as well as Colorado.

Beavis, I have seen the top of the mountain, and it is good.

This is very true. It also makes me wonder how SU breaks down games when he is never watching them.

I'm leaving to go camping in a minute, so lest I be accused of convenient silence, let me be the first to eat crow on this, supposing it's true (and I don't have a reason to doubt UD). Congrats Utah. I've already admitted to being jealous of the opponents and the road trips, although I'm not sure you've improved your position.

It's always been about what's good for BYU for me. OK...and there was a part of me that wanted to see SU melt down. I'm still convinced that if TCU and BSU go off this year, and I think they will, the MWC gets an autobid, and we're sitting pretty for BCS spots every third year or so. Would have been every fourth with Utah. The annoying Utefan will be tough to deal with, and the inevitable SOS smack will get tired pretty quickly, but that's nothing new. Like always, I'll pull for Utah as long as they're not playing BYU or anyone else in the MWC.

I'm now a huge BSU fan.
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah
