Oh how the turntables have turned.

Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Depending on how this all ends up, I intend to be mean enough that his claims will have merit.

Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

                    • Soooo did they really just say we are going to wait to expand until our media right deal runs out and THEN we will bring in new markets and new fanbases? The level of incompetence here is astounding.

There clearly is no plan. They are acting like architects of a ponzi scheme as the scheme begins to collapse. Delay, deflect, avoid. No actual plan to fix what can't be fixed.

                        • Maybe some schools (Like UO and/or UW) won't budge on expansion until they see real numbers.

I'm not sure which is the chicken or the egg in all of this.
                          Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I don't think it means to wait until the existing deal expires. I think they're just repeating their line that they'll consider expansion only after they've consummated their new media deal.

The news is that they are committing to expand and not just considering expansion.

I’m just guessing here but I’m sure there are two big issues at play for the media rights deal before Colorado left.

first, they aren’t getting the amount per school they want. I’m sure if they got anything close to Big12 numbers that’s have signed something by now. It’s clear they don’t.

Second, with lower amounts per school I’m sure that OU and UW are asking for a higher percentage payout than the rest. Those schools are worth more so they feel they can ask for it.

Colorado knows what’s gone on in the discussions and they probably see the writing on the wall so they bailed. They didn’t want to be in a conference with u equal revenue sharing and frankly their move to the PAC has been a disaster for them.

UW and OU know they can call the Big12 and ask to be in and the Big12 will find a way to get them in. The rest of the schools had better be calling Yormark yesterday because someone is getting left out in the cold.
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

                                That sounds plausible.

I too am guessing, but I think Oregon could be leaking info about interest in the BIG 12 to get the B1G to act and extend an invite. It's a dangerous if not foolish gambit. The B1G has no incentive to act until it is time to court Notre Dame and the ACC teams they may be interested in targeting. I don't see the B1G doing anything unless the SEC acts. And even then, the better move for the B1G may be to invite Stanford and Cal as west coast partners to USC and UCLA instead of Oregon and Washington.
