Yeah, watching P12 folks gush over the likes of San Diego State is something to behold.
They sound perfect for the Pac 12-2.

SMU averages around 21,000 for home games. Of course, their stadium only holds like 35,000.

IIRC, that isn't an entirely accurate portrayal of their viewership.

The MW TV contract is currently split between CBS and Fox. Their previous deal was also with CBS, but with an ESPN carve-out for Boise State games. The new contract, similarly, gives preferred status to BSU - Fox has the rights to all their home games, and puts them on Fox/FS1. In the prior deal, ESPN had the rights for BSU home games. BSU also makes more than the other MW teams on their media contracts.

CBS has the first choice of games for their CBS Sports network after Fox takes the BSU games. By and large, SDSU has been their preferred target. As such, SDSU games have been broadcast on CBS Sports more than any other MW team - I think by a lot. And CBS Sports ratings don't get reported. As such, the "average" that gets quoted around often uses zero viewers for those games in the numerator but still includes those games in the denominator.

Now, they're probably not getting great ratings on CBS Sports for several reasons:
      • It's CBS Sports
      • SDSU's opponents are not usually very interesting
      • As a West-Coast team, their games may tend to be broadcast a little later in the day when the Eastern time zone is heading to bed
      • SDSU is not the biggest draw in the country
That said, their ratings are at least marginally better than the average that gets quoted, and would likely improve quite a bit if they were playing more notable opponents on better-rated networks.

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

            ION emerges again. Yikes.

            This is SAD.

            • I'd be somewhat anxious about this situation were I a fan of a program that resides in the PAC12.

Undercuts the credibility of those university presidents GK ran out there a few weeks back to calm the waters.

                  • Of course, what Thamel didn't mention there was a bidding war by the networks over the B1G deal... ION TV and CW must be holding up the Pac 12-2 deal.

That's right, some of the ADs already come up wanting in the credibility department.

Plus the BiG was waiting to add USC and UCLA, the PAC is still reeling from that exit. That analogy is dubious.

That must be a local station? I do not have CW available where I am at (Bakersfield). I am in the heart of P12 country.
