But the Funks need some food, and since you're hungry, maybe you can take them over some dinner.
I was mostly complaining about the CB/TBS crowd.

Do you think Top Ramen will work?

Just make sure to crack an egg in there. Take that Top Ramen to the next level!
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

Never tried that. Egg Drop Ramen! Actually sounds kind of good.

It wasn't me going off on a discussion regarding Mangum that no one was actually having. It was the fact that I didn't stroke the ego of BYU fans on this board and pointed something out that you and the others didn't appreciate. That is how it is on this board, if you say something that is controversial about BYU you guys get butthurt.

It's not news to anyone that some guys on this list bomb.
But QBs drafted in the first three rounds of the NFL draft probably have the same rate of attrition. What seems to be clear is this -- If you're on the list, it's no guarantee that you're going to make it in college or the NFL; however if you're starting in the NFL, there's a 2/3 chance that you were on the list upon entering college. If you're a 1A QB recruit not on this list, your chance at getting drafted in the first four rounds of the NFL is a fraction of guys that are in the top 11.
So why are you guys getting butthurt for me pointing this out. What is the difference in pointing this out compared to pointing out the NFL players that were drafted? It all has to do with the BYU fans on this board getting bent out of shape when your egos aren't stroked.

Are you truly suggesting that what you presented about Mangum (about being a possible bust) was new information that we had never considered?

Sure it was. See this post: http://cougaruteforum.com/showpost.p...&postcount=802

At that point that was not the discussion anyone was having.

ha, come on. You didn't say anything controversial about BYU or anything controversial in general. You made a very obvious comment that nobody has even disagreed with much less felt butthurt about. You're getting too touchy about BYU fans.

The Michigan coaches must love him to use one of the few remaining spots in the class on him, given that there are more 4 and 5-star guys still likely to choose Michigan than there are spots left in the class.
Michigan is killing it in recruiting this year. Brady Hoke said he wanted a true fullback in this class. They tried to land one last year but the kid they signed showed up late and was not very good.

Houma is a true fullback and won't get many touches at Michigan but fits a huge need. He had some decent offers with Washington, UCLA, Utah and Utah St. But definitely not the elite level guy they have been landing.

They wanted EJ Fatu and he named Michigan and LSU his final two but Hoke went with the guy that was ready to commit now.

You obviously missed the at the end of the post. As for the comment, yes it was obvious and yes there were a couple of people that did get butthurt.

I think it is pretty cool to see a kid from Utah go play at Michigan. Doesn't happen often. Holtry disappointed and didn't stick around out there.

Did the apply to the whole post? Or just the Hesiman part? I'm never sure if emoticons have general applicability to the whole statement, or the what immediately preceded it.

All I'm saying is, there wasn't a single mention on this entire board of Mangum playing in the NFL, until you implied that such a discussion was being held. If you were just joking about that part, too, then I misread it.

I think this is something Cougar fans would understand fairly well. Our track record so far with top caliber QB's hasn't been exemplary. Ben Ols*n was an Elite 11 guy, Matt Berry was probably a blue chip caliber QB recruit, I think Engemann was pretty highly recruited, etc. None of those guys did jack in Provo. Any success we've had in the last +10 years has been built on the backs of a couple ** and *** star recruits out of AZ and a kid from SLC that even our own coaches didn't want to play at QB for most of his time in the program.

I don't know all the details, but one thing that Holtry has mentioned is that he wanted to get married and was told by Carr that if he did he would lose his scholarship.

Since both Mangum and Houma were brought up in this thread I'll admit that if I were a BYU fan I would be pretty excited that we had just landed Heaps two years ago, poached Taysom Hill and have now landed the Elite 11 MVP.

You start getting that many highly touted kids in the program and at least ONE of them is going to turn out. Blech. I hate saying that.

As for Houma (?), it's disappointing when a talented local SLC recruit decides early on that Utah is not for him and he is heading out of state. I suppose the good news is that it is early on and Utah can now focus on finding someone else. It would truly suck had he led them along until February.
