Well, there I was all excited for the first game of the year for the Jazz, and I had to turn it off 3 minutes into the 3rd quarter. Dissapointing.

The Jazz have traditionally had hideous uniforms (purple mountains majesty....baby blues.....ugh). These are good looking.

And just like that Deron runs off 6 straight points on two threes and is headed to the FT line. Cut it down to the 10-12 range by the end of the 3rd and we may be talking.

Looks like Big Al's debut was a bust. Bummer.

The only player on the Jazz with a positive +/- was Jeremy Evans.

Gonna need more from those two.

I think the Jazz have the worst bench in the league. Not a solid contributor out of the bunch. Once they get the offence down they will do fine against most teams, I'd bet, but what a sad group of backups.

Wow. You must be clairvoyant AND have NBA league pass because after one game you've already established that the Jazz have the worst bench in the league.

All about energy last night. Deron set the tone with his play in the first half and fouls and a carousel line up were the result. As the team leader Deron needs to come out and play with more urgency early. He did his best in the 3rd but it was too late and no one came along for the ride. It's one game though, and a better performance tonight should allay fears of our imminent 0-82 season.

Jeremy Evans is a wild, out of control, pogo stick...and I dig it. Anymore than 10 min on the court and his obvious weaknesses in running the offesne will be exposed but if you want someone to get a quarter off the top of the backboard, he's your guy.

All in all, just one of 82.

Maybe Miami has a worse bench. They are starting Arroyo, after all.

Honestly, the only things I'm looking for this season are improvement in the middle and on the road. Last night may or may not be an omen of things to come but I don't have visions of an NBA championship this year anyway.

I thought that absolutely the most alarming thing I saw in the game last night was the Jazz double teaming Melvin Ely in the post when he was on the floor with Carmelo, Billups, and JR Smith.

The second most alarming occurrence last night was my apparent inability to go into a new season without hoping that the Jazz will correct such stupid, archaic defensive strategies that haven't changed for 20 years now.

I thought that absolutely the most alarming thing I saw in the game last night was the Jazz double teaming Melvin Ely in the post when he was on the floor with Carmelo, Billups, and JR Smith.

You can't stop Melvin. You can only hope to surprise him into shooting while double teamed.
