Since the Heat are WAY under the cap, they they can take on Boozer's salary and trade away a much smaller contract. They could do Boozer/Beasly straight up. Neither O'neal nor Korver are under contract, so there is not reason that I can think of that they would need to be involved in the deal. O'Neal made 20m last year, and I can't see him making more than 1/4 that this year. And whatever he makes, he won't be getting a pay check from the Jazz.

But the overall point: Boozer for Beasley would be better than Boozer walking away for nothing. But it wouldn't be an inspiring deal. The only reason the Heat would want to trade Beasley for Boozer is if they are trying to out-bid another team for Boozer. I hope that is the case and a few stupid teams are willing to pay Boozer the kind of money NY is paying Amare so the Jazz can get something back in a sign and trade.

The way the market has gone, I wonder what it means for Boozer. If Bron goes to Jersey, Wade and Bosh to Miami, is Chicago the only team that has any interest left in Booze? Not a bad fit. But say LBJ to NJ, Wade and Bosh to Chicago and Miami is left in the cold. Do they take the chance at building around Booze? I wouldn't. I'd keep my cap space and build through the draft. I guess I'm wondering what the market really is for Booze. I don't think he's getting the max deal he is seeking. I'd welcome him back in Utah at $12-13 mil per. But at $20 mil? Get the hell out...

If any of these teams get left out, I think we'll see them make immediate trades to take on salaries other teams want to give up. Ellis + Biedrins would certainly be a drastic drop-off for Miami, but they don't have horrible contracts, neither escalates, and then they could hope Beasley develops and add another high lottery pick next year.

Teams are stupid. I don't think Amare or Joe Johnson are much more valuable than Boozer. None of them deserve max money. Not if you want to build a good team around them.
Boozer is a great fit in Chicago, and it would make sense for them to overpay to get him. He makes them contenders and they have a good defensive center to help him out. It doesn't make much sense for rebuilding teams to overpay him, or Amare.

David Thorpe is certainly a big Hayward fan. That makes me feel great when I remember the rave reviews he gave Fess. But in reality I think Thorpe has really proven to be a major homer for the players that work out for him, and a much tougher critic for guys he doesn't. So the positive feedback he gives for the #9 pick are another positive sign.

He also tweeted today that he likes Evans more than any undrafted free agent he's watched so far. That's pretty solid for a guy that was actually drafted. I can't get his tweet page to extend to previous messages, but I believe his review of Evans is that he "plays the right way". That is code for "Sloan is going to play him, no doubt".

It was awesome getting to see Hayward play a whole 19 minutes today. Nothing better than letting your first round pick get some actual on-court time in your system, to put him in different situations to see how he reacts, and to let him get more practice against players not in the Horizon Conference. I wish he'd look to shoot much more often than he is right now. His shot looks great, but he's also only taking wide open jumpers. Not sure if he fears not being able to get his shot off with someone in his face, or if he's already afraid of shooting in front of Sloan.

I am impressed with his effort on rebounds. He jumps quickly and has often kept the ball alive or tipped it to a teammate when he hasn't come down w/the board. Other than that, I don't know anything more about him than I did a month ago. He isn't on the court long enough, he's playing with a bunch of crap players, and he's not being assertive in the least.

Every year it's the same - the Jazz insist on giving guys who will never play even a pre-season game for them significant minutes in summer league at the expense of guys who need the work like Hayward and Koufous. Hayward should be playing 35 minutes every game.

Boozer/Korver for Beasley/O'Neal is such an awful deal that it probably actually has legs.

Really? I don't hate that trade. With the right motivation, beasley has the goods to be an all star. Jermaine o'neal's contract would obviously be terrible but, hell, this is the team that's paying andrei freaking kirilenko 17m.

He gave Fess raves for his potential, but always said it was going to take some serious work to realize it. Fess still has potential, unfortunately he seems to have a ten cent head. And of course nobody has been more harsh/critical of Fess than Thorpe since Fess decided dressing up as Willy Wonka was more important than working on his game.

It was, as always, absolutely fantastic to see Utah get 15 guys some action in the game. Dragicevic is the only one on the roster who didn't play.

There is a growing belief among both sources and rival executives that LeBron James is strongly considering joining Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami.

That news has sent GMs from the Cavs, Bulls and Nets scrambling to come up with a last ditch effort to convince LeBron to reconsider. Their plan, according to sources, involves Carlos Boozer.

Sources said that on Wednesday, the Bulls, Cavs and Heat all intensified negotiations with Boozer, hoping that landing the 28-year-old power forward could entice LeBron.

The Bulls and Nets would still have max cap room to sign LeBron if they can get Boozer to agree to a deal for something around 5 years, $80 million.

The Cavs do not have cap space and cannot sign Boozer straight out. However, the team has called the Jazz about potentially doing a sign-and-trade with Boozer.

Boozer has played the last five years for the Utah Jazz. He averaged 19.2 ppg and 11.2 rpg for the Jazz last season. Boozer began his career in Cleveland and remains friendly with LeBron.

I will stand by my prediction that there is no way Bosh and James end up at Miami. To do it, one or both would have to take less than the max, and neither will agree to it. What is Miami going to give up in a S&T? All they have is Beasley and future draft picks. That's it. They don't even have any bad assets to trade. They have nothing.

Lebron is staying in Cleveland. That's my prediction.

Nobody can get Booze to play better D in Chicago -- he's too limited physically. What will happen is that he'll look better next to an athletic, competent defensive player in Noah (which is the type of pairing the Jazz should have gotten him a long time ago).
