    Nice.

Jarid in Cedar questioned my statement that Sloan makes personnel decisions, yet anyone that knows anything about the Jazz organization will verify that he does. You start the conversation as a condescending douche and then label me as such.

MarkGrace questioned my statement that the Jazz told Mathews they would match any offer he got, yet anyone that knows what's going on in the Jazz front office knows they are planning to match the offer. Now he's backtracking playing the unintentional offender.

Blueintheface. Look at who first mentioned Horford or look back at my draft suggestions on CB then tell me who's never had an original idea you uninspiring, unfunny dipshit.

I never said the Jazz announced it, but it has been their intention all summer to match any offer. The same thing happened with Millsap. The Jazz never made an offer intending simply to match the deal he was given. Shocking, I know, that a guy named SloanHater might actually have some knowledge of what's going on in the Jazz organization.

His 9 mil next year has to be the most a second year player has made in the league, no?

I don't see how the Jazz match this offer. Give some of his minutes to CJ and use your trade exceptions to go out and find a SG. You can't pay him 9 mil next and 34 total.

He isn't a tipping point player yet his contract tips your team. Okur's extension looks worse and worse every fing day.

          Here's your initial post:

Which goes to show that the Blazers are only interested in screwing the Jazz. If the Jazz weren't so damn predictable and announced their intent to keep Mathews at any cost, perhaps they could have resigned him for cheap.
That's exactly what you said, which is why I asked where it was coming from. I had never seen this announcement made, and was curious where you got the idea and asked for a link. I'm not sure why you are playing this "uninentional offender" card, because I never did anything offensive; I merely asked where that information was coming from since, according to you, some type of acknowledgment had been made that they'd match any offer.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

Don't bother. I've tried the cordial route with SH. I've tried what you've done here by showing your benign inquiry and his 12 yearold response and inability to admit he acted hastily. I've even tried neener neener. Just a word of caution: your mother is next.

You must be related to SeattleUte. First you demand a link to validate my opinion and knowledge. Now you want to mince words.

The Jazz essentially announced to the league that they would retain Mathews at any cost when they told them, Mathews and his agent, to work out a deal and expect the Jazz to match it. Every team in the league has been aware of this. The Blazers structured Mathews' deal with this knowledge.

I apologize the Jazz didn't put out a formal announcement on their website. It seems to be the only thing to appease your sense that my opinion is fallacious.

Maybe they just wanted to screw with Portland in Revenge for them jacking up Millsap's price..

It's no wonder Portland hates us. They're still pissed off from us full on taking advantage of them in the DWill trade. How's Martell working out for you now Portland.

Why aren't the Jazz doing anything? Anything at all? Tony allen would be a good player for the jazz, some good D, we couldnt do better than 9.7 mil over 3 seasons?

They're saving money to match Matthews.

Stephen A. Smith said it best the other day:

Players don't want to play in Cleveland, Utah, LA Clips or GS Warriors. You will never get big name FA to those locations.

Also...DWill is gone at the end of his contract. You can write that one down.

15 years ago nobody wanted to go to Dallas. After MJ retired (and even still) they really haven't been able to land a big fish free agent. Management and other players can have a huge impact on players wanting to play somewhere.

Players will go play where there is cap space available. Will the Jazz have to overpay to land players? Most certainly. But if there is a roster spot and cap space, they will be able to sign players. It isn't the end of the world, although you may be right on it being the end of the Williams era in Utah.
