Sadly, Burks is on record stating that he models his game after Jamal Crawford.Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss
There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

He has said this and I agree with BGR that it would be awful if Burks becomes a Jamal Crawford clone.Originally posted by Donuthole View PostSadly, Burks is on record stating that he models his game after Jamal Crawford.
Having said that, I just don't see him as a Crawford type. First, Crawford is a shooter. That's what he does, it's who he is. Hot and cold. Doesn't defend.
Burks would prefer to attack the basket, get lay ups and go to the FT line. Also, and this may be the apologist in me, he is more than a willing passer and he has an interest in going to the glass. Also, I feel like he cares and is aggressive defensively.
If we're talking ceiling or potential, he just so much more Harden than Crawford. He'll never be as good as Harden, but he plays more like Harden than Crawford despite what he says.
Right now, he needs to figure how to hit a jump shot. Since he's been with the Jazz, he's never been as bad shooting the ball as he has in the last nine games.I'm like LeBron James.

His jumper looks different every time he takes it. Ray Allen says the two most important aspects of his jump shot are getting his feet right and then releasing it from the same point of his jump each time. Burks is so variable on those two things, and then compounds the issue by shooting such a flat shot. I do hope that at the very least we'll see him bump his FT% up to the high 70's this season.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostRight now, he needs to figure how to hit a jump shot. I think with consistent minutes and getting to the line 5-6 times a game on a regular basis, he'll be around 80%.Originally posted by BGRTHNUMEGO View PostHis jumper looks different every time he takes it. I like Alec's game and hope that in 2013 he doesn't think emulating a chucker is a great idea. I think he's much closer to Harden than Crawford (as SMR said)."Either evolution or intelligent design can account for the athlete, but neither can account for the sports fan." - Robert Brault
"Once I seen the trades go down and the other guys signed elsewhere," he said, "I knew it was my time now." - Derrick Favors

Stop calling me Shirley. I think you know this already but I'll clarify; Burks will never touch Harden, but his style-of-play will.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostYou are crazy. I agree with MG, glad the Jazz didn't cave. There is too much risk to pay more than 10m per year right now. Hayward could have a major injury. He could look like he's destined to be a 2nd or 3rd fiddle (likely) and his 3 pt % will likely drop below 40% due to his new role. In that case, the Jazz make it clear that they will match any offer, and he may not even get one a la Pekovic with Minnesota this summer.. With the risk involved, even if the Jazz have to pay an extra 5-8 million over 4 years next summer, this is the smart move. Paul George made his money in the playoffs. Hayward won't have the same opportunity to impress. He'll not sniff the All-Start game, so he won't get a Cousins/George type offer. He is almost certain to get a Tyreke Evans offer, or better, but I'm sure they offered him that much already. Fortunately, Doc Rivers won't have any cap space!Originally posted by Maximus View Postthey will end up paying more for him in the summer.
