Gordon has scored in double figures in 11 of the last 13 games while averaging 28.8 min/game, shooting 56% from 3, and he's on the court at the end of the game. He needs to be averaging over 30 but his minutes are slowing increasing an his play warrants much more especially considering the guy taking most of his minutes can't play defense. Foye's is shooting 48% during the same period but his agregious defense should be more of a deterent for the minutes he gets.

He played 28.6 mpg in November when he shot 40% from the field and 29% from 3. When he's been on his shooting tear he's played 24.8 mpg in December and only 26.5 so far in January. He is making 57% of his 3's this month and getting to the line and playing the best defense of our perimeter guys and he can't sniff 30 mpg.Originally posted by Blueintheface View PostGordon has scored in double figures in 11 of the last 13 games while averaging 28.8 min/game, shooting 56% from 3, and he's on the court at the end of the game. Looking at the top 8-10 five man lineups in the league (best offensive lineups) and it is obvious that in today's NBA one of the primary keys to having an elite offense is to have a guy (or multiple guys) that can both hit the 3 pointer and get to the line. Hayward is killing it and he's at 26 mpg this month. I don't know why I care. If he was on the court any more minutes it'd mean sharing the court with Jefferson more and Hayward would go right back to not being involved in the offense as much.

On this day in 1991, John Stockton had 20 points, 28 assists, 8 steals, and made 8 out of his 12 FGAs. Malone had 32 and 18 in the same game against SA. It is odd to see the two teams combining to shoot only 10 3pters in the game.

What odd substitution non-patterns by Corbin last night. Burks doesn't play in the 1st half. Carroll is in the game before Hayward. Burks is first of the bench in 2nd half. Odd all the way around. Good thing the the bench went 11-12 during their short 1st half stint or Miami wins easily.
At least the odd rotation worked this time.

I had no clue. I liked him as a player, but I'm not sure he is the guy I would select to give Big Al footwork lessons.

http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/story...-players-block3. Al Jefferson, F/C, Jazz
The one thing I know about the Jazz is that we're not going to know about any Jefferson deal until the Jazz hand him a plane ticket. The Jazz are as secretive an organization as there is and they've been tight-lipped about their trade plans this season. But virtually every GM in the league believes the Jazz are moving one of their two big men -- either Jefferson or Paul Millsap. Because Millsap is a favorite of the team, Jefferson could be the odd man out.
The team needs to clear more playing time for Derrick Favors and Enes Kanter and would probably be happy with a nice draft pick or a young point guard prospect in return. So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

Peter Vessey was on local radio here (1320, now not the station owned by the Jazz) and was hilarious, mocking Ty Corbin and Al Jefferson. He's always been a hater but he pays close attention to the Jazz yet isn't a fan so he tells it exactly as it is. (I tried looking for the podcast but their website apparently was designed by my daughter's 6th grade class)."Either evolution or intelligent design can account for the athlete, but neither can account for the sports fan." - Robert Brault
"Once I seen the trades go down and the other guys signed elsewhere," he said, "I knew it was my time now." - Derrick Favors

The Jazz are the 7th seed right now, right? I thought the only possible way they were going to make a trade was if they started fading away from the 8 seed. Now, they're in 7th and likely thinking, "We're sitting in a good spot, and that is without Mo. Once he gets back, we'll end up as the 5 seed, win the 1st round, and then who knows after that...anything can happen."
I just can't see a trade happening with this team, especially where the minutes for Favors and Kanter have actually gone down lately. It was such a freaking joke to hear Signey Lowe on the radio talking specifically about Kanter, parroting the company line of, "He just needs to keep working hard, proving himself. If he keeps working hard every day, eventually he'll get a shot. He's too good not to. But the fact of the matter is he just isn't consistent enough right now and he needs to work on that." Yep, because the NBA is full of those wonderful success stories of guys who suddenly got more consistent and earned loads of playing time because of how they did in practice.

I don't know Johnnie Bryant was able to overcome the coaching abilities of Ray Giacoletti and Jim Boylen to become a good player with solid fundamentals. Seems like he may have some basketball knowledge.Originally posted by Applejack View PostJohnnie Basketball on the Jazz staff: Johnnie Bryant

4. Keep him or trade him: Al Jefferson.
Gallagher: Trade him. I would trade either Jefferson or Paul Millsap, depending on which generates more interest. I think above-average big guys are so rare in the NBA these days that teams are more likely to give up more for Jefferson than Millsap.
Gutierrez: Trade him. Sure, he's Utah's leading scorer and rebounder, but the future of this team revolves around Derrick Favors and Enes Kanter. So the Jazz could ride Jefferson to another low playoff seed and get bounced early. Or they could do the smart thing and continue building for the future with pieces they get in return for Big Al.
Foster: Trade him. Jefferson is a low-post savant, but the value over his replacement player isn't substantial enough to warrant the big contract he'd demand this offseason. Utah is a much better defensive team with Derrick Favors and Enes Kanter, so using Jefferson as the bait for a top young point guard only makes sense.
Mason: Trade him. Or at least trade someone in the Jazz's loaded frontcourt. The guards are bad, and if Utah wants to go from fringe playoff team to fighting for home-court advantage, it needs to upgrade the backcourt.
Schwartz: Trade him. Utah is a borderline playoff team with a bright future thanks to all its young big man depth. Jefferson may be the best of the group, but if the Jazz can move the impending free agent for another piece to add to their core in a season they aren't contending anyway, they should. So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.
