Why the eff is Hayward the guy guarding a red hot Paul to end the game? And why the eff is Al on the court for what is clearly a defense-offense substitution situation?

I thought Hayward did a pretty good job on Paul. Yes he got killed on that second to last possession, prior to that he'd been considerably better than anybody else.

Also i'd be remiss if, as the chief Burks apologist, I didn't mention the Jazz were up by 5 when Corbin inexplicably pulled Burks in favor of Foye. They lost by two for a -7 during that time.

Also why do you have a catch and shoot guy who can't create, take the ball on the last possession in a creating situation? Just clueless coaching.

Paul was 1-6 in the 4th when being guarded by Hayward. 7-12 from the field the rest of the game.

I thought it was fitting that Jefferson reached 25 ft from the hoop and was called for that stupid foul that won the game for LA after he got in Hayward's face for the grab Hayward made on Paul because Jefferson hedged to far and gave Paul an easy cut back behind the screen.

Loved how the strategy shifted in the 2nd and 4th quarters based on lineup, changing from the ball moving well and Hayward running things to everyone standing around, no ball movement, and Jefferson or Foye just shooting it each time they touched it. It isn't so much what that causes on offense, though many nights it can be a killer, but it totally changes the dynamic of the team on the defensive end when nobody else gets involved offensively.

Has there ever been a player who likes to hold the ball long enough to let the defense reset every time he gets a post touch as much as Jefferson?

Wait, Al was getting in G-Time's face for a defensive mistake? ha. I also read that somewhere near the end of the game G went after Al for his shitty PnR defense and Tinsley had to separate them. Did that really happen? I had to get on my flight with about three minutes to go and didn't see the very end. But I saw a quote from Paul where he said when teams trap him he goes at the slowest guy and Al was always right there. lol.

I thought Enes played well last night and some of the best defensive possessions we had against Paul were when it was Enes and Hayward trapping. He's also looking a lot more comfortable on the block and looks to be taking more of what the defense gives him instead of the making the move he wants to make regardless of defensive positioning. When he gets the ball in one-on-one situations I always feel pretty good that he's going to get a decent shot.

Al sucks. Bad. I look forward to the day when he's not on the team and younger players with more promise can get minutes that used to be wasted on him. If we don't move him in the next two months, I hope we just let him walk. It's pretty clear a team built around him isn't going to be better than getting beaten in the first round of the playoffs at best, if they even make the playoffs with him.

When Al came in last night was when we gave up the lead and lost the game. They were doing better with Kanter in before that.

Al started yelling at Hayward and Hayward started giving it right back. They were headed into a timeout and Tinsley came to separate them. The cameras went back to them after the timeout and those 3 were standing together talking over things again. Classic stuff seeing Jefferson instructing other people what to do on defense. Brought back wonderful memories of Boozer talking about being a warrior.
