I read that he and Burks played on the same team last night. I think Burks had 17.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

Who were they playing against that beat a team with Hayward and Burks on it? The article said Chalmers and Eric Gordon are playing there but I haven't read if any other pros are participating. Any Pacers players? I think Hayward had at least two old Butler teammates on his team, too.

I don't know who was on the other team, but I know as far as Pacers go Paul George and George Hill have been playing. Hill had 50 last night. I think he was something like 21-25 from the floor.

Kanter with 7 points and 7 rebounds in his debut with the Turkish national team today. He went up against Fess, who had 10 points and 8 rebs.

Jonas V. had 14 and 7 against Russia today.

A brief review that I saw on Jazzfanz.

Overall I would say solid game.

-Had a couple of sloppy/rushed/forced post attempts, but he did have a nice baseline fadeaway
-Found a couple of holes in the defensive under the rim for easy buckets
            -Man defense was ok
-Had trouble containing the small black PG when isolated on him(he looked pretty fast though)
-Doesn't get off his feet well (appears to have Boozer-esque defensive quickness)
            -Good rebounding
-Not seeing the bad hands two people were complaining about
-Cuts to the basket off picks well
Yeah, I know its only 1 game, but I see a lot of Boozer in him. No way do I mean that as an insult. A 6'11 Boozer is a pretty good player.
I think he is incomparably tougher than any big man we have right now. It was a big weakness of jazz for the last couple of years having soft players under the basket. Memo, boozer, big al. And millsap isnt tall enough to bang with big centers. I think Kanter will fill that blank and even though he made lots of mistakes today it will be a big plus for us to have such a hustle-lover big man.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

Did Kanter play many minutes? I'll look for a link to stats

Based on what I can gather, he probably played about 15-20 minutes.

Yeah, I don't think he played a ton. Also this is his first game action in a while, so I'm sure it's going to take a bit to get his feet under him.

Kanter was about as effective as anybody on his team with 7 and 6...

                    TÜRKİYE (69): Cenk Akyol 13 (2 ribaund), Barış Ermiş 4, Ömer Onan 9 (3 ribaund), Ersan İlyasova 3 (6 ribaund- 1 asist), Kerem Tunçeri 2 (2 asist), Oğuz Savaş 5 (6 ribaund- 2 asist), Ender Arslan 6 (1 ribaund- 2 asist), Enes Kanter 7 (6 ribaund), Hidayet Türkoğlu 8 (5 ribaund- 2 asist), Emir Preldzic 4 (2 ribaund- 3 asist), Furkan Aldemir 8 (7 ribaund)

It would be interesting to compare minutes, but for a 19 year old to hold his own like that is okay, IMO. Sounds like the most concerning things were his lack of lift, lateral quickness and Boozeresque defense.

Sounds good. But a little depressing to see that Valanciunas put up 26 and 11 in his national team debut and followed it up with 14 and 7 vs Russia (AK playing for Russia). (Oops. I told myself not to make any more comparisons until they actually play in the NBA and we can really judge who is going to be better).
The Eurobasket tournament starts August 31. Will be interesting to see how everybody does. There should be several friendlies between now and then.

I really want to see Kanter play

A few things to keep in mind. V has been playing consistently for a long time; Kanter, not so much. We don't know how many minutes each guy played in their respective games. I thought V was the better player before the draft too, but V isn't coming over for at least one, maybe two years - maybe ever and that is an issue. I don't know, just some food for thought.

V is coming over eventually. But Kanter won't be playing much at all this year anyway, due to lockout and the Jazz depth chart. We might end up wishing Kanter was playing in a good euro league this year. Hate to waste a year of the rookie scale on the bench.

                                Some Kanter highlights here: http://kykernel.com/2011/08/12/enes-...ey-highlights/

I would say based on that first play alone he's already a better defender than Boozer. ha. Damn, how big is Fess? Sheesh that kid is a monster.

Kanter went scoreless today with 4 rebs vs. Germany.

Some Tomic highlights against Serbia (mostly just a bunch of rebounds)
