I always watch the other teams feed, gives some enjoyable perspective on how others view your team.

You get a choice on DTV? On Dish I get one option. Sadly, it is usually the Jazz broadcast.

        • Mr. Haywood makes the Rookie Watch feature...there is no denying the kid's future greatness, but I didn't realize what a ringer he is for Josh Groban.

It's only three games, sure, but when they are so different from what we had seen from him, it bears looking deeper into what transpired. Hayward played with tremendous hustle at Butler, but early on in his NBA career, all I saw was a casualness that suggested he thought he was a can't-miss prospect. Now, after a disastrous first seven-plus weeks, it appears Hayward began to understand that anything less than an all-out effort was going to doom him to comparisons to Adam Morrison.

So Hayward began attacking the rim, going after loose balls, making hustle plays everywhere and even earning some terrific dunks. He made some shots, too, which always helps, but my guess is he did so because he was feeling better about his overall game. It's a pretty common occurrence: players finding their shooting stroke only after improving other parts of their game.

Hayward always has been a guy who plays with more toughness than you'd think just from looking at him, and that part of his game has returned. It's a good thing, because guess how he was rewarded for those three excellent games? He played just six minutes in Utah's next game against Detroit. But at least he's shown some life as a player and reminded the Jazz brass of why they drafted him in the first place. As long as he maintains that edge, he'll keep earning chances.

          • It was a bit disappointing to see Hayward not get much burn against Detroit after his three solid outings. But when Bell looks competent and AK and CJ are putting in good nights, he's just going to get squeezed out of the rotation. Fortunately for him Bell rarely looks competent and AK and CJ are still wildly inconsistent -- he'll get his chances.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

fwiw I don't think this was the case at all.

Yeah, Bell looked anything but competent against Detroit.

Chad -- thanks for the note on D-Will's free agency in summer 2012. I've been wonder where he might wind up, or do you think he'll re-sign with Utah? I don't think Utah can put a championship team around him but a lot of teams could really use him.

                  Chad Ford (1:25 PM)

I think Jazz fans have to be a little worried. They've put together a very good team and exceeded the luxury tax to do it. But Utah's a small market and DWill would be a much bigger name in a bigger city. Given some long term injury concerns with Chris Paul, I think the Knicks and several other teams with potential cap space in 2012 will be targeting Williams first.
I still think Dallas will be the team that makes a major push for him.

Agreed. It wasn't overconfidence, it was a total lack of confidence.

If he had watched Hayward at all, I don't see how he could have missed that.

So I'm going to guess that Hayward got an invite to do some off-season work at Thorpe's facility and turned it down. That was the difference between Fess being a future all-star and being less than fat Mel Turpin.

                      • With the date when nonguaranteed contracts become guaranteed for the season quickly approaching (Jan. 10), two ex-Jazz players have been waived by their teams this week.

Center Jarron Collins, who spent his first eight NBA seasons in Utah starting in 2001, was dropped by the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday. The Stanford product has played for Phoenix and the Clippers since not being re-signed by Utah after the 2008-09 season
LA will rue the day they parted ways with Jarron. (The other former Jazz man was Sundiata Gaines by the Wolves)

                        • Jazz off to a blistering start tonight. Down 30-17 to a hawks team that played last night. Ouch.

                          • In a non fast break situation There should never be a Jazz possession where Deron doesn't touch the ball. Especially when he is on the floor with Watson, Evans, Hayward and Jefferson.
