Obviously. Like when Rose sat him at the kennel at a crucial point in the second half; after he committed a turnover and the Zags pushed the lead back to double digits. It was a great coaching move. With hm on the bench, the cougars cut the lead down to five. Haws came back in, obviously coached up and ready to close out the game. Kinda like the role Manu Ginobli played for all those years with the Spurs. Because who needs a guy coming off the bench who can affect the game—said no coach ever lol Oh, wait. Maybe you didn't see that part of the game. Because didn't you admit you don't actually watch the games
Yup, Lebowski. There is some great sport analysis going on here on CS lol
Edit: Just to clarify. The NBA player Haws reminds me most of is Manu Ginobli ... but BYU doesn't need that kind of guy on their team. He must start. he has to start. He is one of the Lone Peak super friends!!
I remember when you posted over on UB5 that you prefer to hang out with ute fans because they are more knowledgeable about sports. Good times.

I thought he meant to type "3-2" when in fact he was making a clever joke.

Well, you know. When you have a poster here who openly admits he doesn't watch the games and another guy who wants to play a 2-3-3 defence ... What's a guy to do?

Despite Devildog sometimes posting while drunk and that fact he may be a 'truther' at least they watch the games ... just say'n
LOL. MP Funk admits to not watching and he is a very prominent ute poster.
So before it was TJ needed to sit on the bench next to the coach and learn, basically alluding to redshirting him. Now everytime he comes out of the game that is a teaching moment? He hasn't played 40 minutes all year, so I guess Rose is doing it your way. In fact nobody in the NBA plays 48 minutes either, they are all listening to you!

At this point I am not sure what to make of your argument. You started off, as I recall, by saying that Haws would benefit from not starting and that Rose was missing an opportunity to help him improve by starting him. But now, as evidence to support your position, you point to a game where Haws played marvelously in a victory over the number one team in the nation, on the same day he was named first team in the conference, and this game was also one WHERE HE STARTED. So, am I to understand that your approach can be implemented and works just fine if he starts as long as he has a little chat with rose during the game? If that's all you meant, then I doubt anyone would really argue with you.

Oh Coug, now that's funny. I never suggested or even alluded to red shirting him—ever. I never even suggested he wasn't a good player—ever. In fact, I vociferously declared him the great white hope: the godsend of BYU basketball ... lol ... and now I am comparing his game to Manu freak'n Ginobli's. Though, perhaps he is more of a Michael Cooper—at least in terms of his body type.
I'm not sure what you're patting yourself on the back for, that players don't play the whole game? Congratulations everyone agrees that no one plays 40 a game. SUwish!

Ok then read Creeksters comment. You wanted him to come off the bench, but now sitting at any point during the game is enough. Also BYU doesn't have the depth of a 5 time NBA champion San Antonio Spurs team. In addition TJ is the 2nd best player on this team behind Mika, Manu has never been the 2nd best player on the Spurs. I might buy an argument of Emery coming off the bench had this team been healthy all year. But Haws makes you sound ridiculous.

Also out of Haws, Mika, Childs, and, Emery TJ averages the most minutes per game.

I started off by saying one of the starting five needed to sit and suggested it be Haws (a cardinal sin evidently). But also admitted that wasn't really a possibility considering the lack of depth. Then I bemoaned the fact the lack of depth was due to going all-in with the LP3 (in particular lauding the great white hope) at the expense of losing some good players.
Regardless, from the start of the season I thought all a long he should come off the bench to replace Rose, but wasn't exactly sure. Now, due to injuries, Rose has moved to the bench permanently. The consequence is—and it should be clear to everyone—Haws is the best point guard. Not Rose or Bryant. And his play of late in that capacity as the straw that stirs the drink on offence, reminds me of Ginobli's similar role with the Spurs.
