Matt Carlino got benched many times for taking poor shots. He even got moved to the other guard position where he wouldn't have the ball so much just so he wouldn't jack up as many bad shots. It's probably why he transferred. Same with Chase Fischer his junior year. Tavernari got taken out of the starting lineup for the same thing but showed great attitude and made the most of it as a 6rh man. Frank Bartley got taken out several times after committing turnovers. He also transferred. There are many other examples of Rose benching players for this kind of thing.Yet, when he does it, Rose gets criticized when these players transfer. There are always two sides, and fans tend to only remember the sides they want to remember.Originally posted by byu71 View PostI heard someone say the problem is Rose can't take players out for screwing up and taking ill advised shots, turnovers or poor defense.
Rose not punishing players sufficiently when they screw up is one of the dumber Rose criticisms, IMO, because for one, it's demonstrably not true that he doesn't bench players or reduce their playing time when he thinks he needs to, and also because there is no way of proving there would be better results if he did it even more.Last edited by BlueK; 03-13-2017, 09:07 AM.

Rose had guys who could step in and replace them. He doesn't have that right now. You are not benching Emery for Beo or Leifson. Emery even with his horrid basketball IQ is still better than Beo and Leifson.Originally posted by BlueK View PostMatt Carlino got benched many times for taking poor shots. I wonder if UT Arlington is a good or bad match up. They have one very good forward, and some good guards, but I am unsure of the style of their play. The fact they defeated SMC in California is cause for concern.Originally posted by KillerDog View PostThe boys are still playing. Best thing for this team is to have them play more games. Their youth can progress and develop game experience and understanding. A win or two in the NIT could start the off season off right."Guitar groups are on their way out, Mr Epstein."
Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

Neither of those guys were good pick ups."Guitar groups are on their way out, Mr Epstein."

This what it took from SMC for UTA to beat them by 4 points:Originally posted by Topper View PostI wonder if UT Arlington is a good or bad match up. Landale: 3/10
Rahon: 2/7
Hermanson: 2/9
Fitzner: 3/7
Naar: 1/3
Essentially SMC's entire team all playing that crappy on the same night is an anomaly. I'm sure UTA played good defense, but that couldn't account for all of it.

I read the game report from UT's perspective. Their coach stated they played the perfect defensive game to induce SMC's poor percentages. He claimed it was the best they have ever played.Originally posted by BlueK View PostThis what it took from SMC for UTA to beat them by 4 points:

That's why it is better to get texts from the AD, when you humanize the coaches it blinds you from seeing their flaws. Plus the AD has access to better activities than just his sport. #donorhackOriginally posted by KillerDog View PostI accept that criticism. I am probably too defensive. It's hard to be critical of kids you have had over for dinner. It's hard to bag on coaches who pick up your three year old and carry her around or give you team gear and text you after wins and losses. I love this program. I do what I can to support them in any way they ask. I've gotten soft in my old age.Get confident, stupid
