Crazy thread on Cougarboard yesterday where someone was saying BYU wouldn't make the NCAA tournament even if they won the WCC tournament. When corrected he just doubled down and said that winning a conference tournament only gets you an autobid if you come from a one-bid league, and Gonzaga and SMC are already going, so no autobid. I would assume he was trolling, but the idiocy level over there is so high, who knows.

Anyway, some have speculated that Utah would get a better NIT seeding. I'm not really seeing why based on the data.

I'll save it for a wet afternoon, but it would be fun to review a lot of the rips on Haws throughout this thread. Just a few months off his mission, looking like a Bataan Death March survivor, and getting first team all-conference honors (and joining Childs on the all-frosh team). What a disappointment.

i've been disappointed in Haws' season. I choose my words carefully there because rather than blame or be disappointed in Haws, I blame the mission and have been disappointed in the season he's had.

Having said that, other than turning the ball over too much in comparison to making plays for teammates, it's hard to argue with 58% TS and 14 ppg and improving defense as a true freshman.

he was so great in HS, my expectations were probably unreasonably high. and that damn mission didn't help!

Believe it or not, there are NIT projection sites out there. But with BYU they're all over the place right now. No sense in even looking at the ones that weren't updated since the Gonzaga game since that game should make a major difference in these. These projections have been updated since then:

This one is probably the best known NIT site, but he's been pretty far off on BYU the last couple of times. I think last year he had us as a 6 and we got a 2. The previous time he didn't even have us in the field at all and we got a 3. His blog covers college basketball in the northeast, so he's probably a little regionally biased.
