Great white hope could describe any number of current or former BYU players. How about Great Ginga' Hope?Jesus wants me for a sunbeam.

TB, please use "Great Ginga' Hope" whilst referencing Mr. Haws. We've deemed it our favourite nickname. Cheers!Originally posted by creekster View PostThat works. ANd when he makes a nice play we can say "Ginga' Dun!"Jesus wants me for a sunbeam.

this is well establishedOriginally posted by cougjunkie View PostWe don't need Haws to rebound more. His job is not to crash the boards that's why we have Mika and Yo. His job is to get out front and push the tempo on the break. If our guards crashed every play we wouldn't be able to run like we do. TB is not smart.

Ah, the board's resident expert on smarts chimes in—agreeing with cougjunkie -lol- You know, I how had a discussion once with Lebowski about how "smart" this place supposedly is, especially with regards to the issue of discussing sports ...Originally posted by Flystripper View Postthis is well established

Not always that easy. Lee Cummard never really added weight and I know he did all that you mentioned. Some just can't add weight. Haws is never going to be a physical specimen. You can just look at his narrow, rounded shoulders and small bones and know that. He does need to get stronger but at best it will be a wiry strength. Good thing is that wiry strong can be more than enough.Dyslexics are teople poo...

Yes, bench him because he's not very good, because benching him will allow him to play more minutes because we want a guy that isn't very good to get more playing time. Plus, benching him will help him watch more of the game from the bench, so he can learn, even though he's playing more minutes.Originally posted by Clark Addison View PostI'm almost convinced. I think if I read the phrase "Great White Hope" two or three more times I will be ready to bench Haws.
Maybe Applejack can forward this strategery on to coach Rose.

Playing from the bench is sound coaching philosophy. That's where assistants do a lot of in-game coaching. And it could mean more playing time.

Smackjack is correct, especially when he refers to this place as cougarboard light.
