As many of you know, I have a personal interest in seeing how Beo performs. I'm still worried he may be too much of a tweaner to ever get a lot of minutes. I'm glad to hear he is shooting the ball well. When the kid is on he can fill it up. He has an effortless stroke.

If he can shoot and is athletic enough to defend on the perimeter, he should get some minutes.

Because I don't follow any other team closely, it always seems BYU has more than its fair share, but that is probably just a lack of focus on other programs than a reality. If EB and Rose ever get healthy and then fit, it would be nice.

I thought he played Haws to a standstill. even frustrated Haws and caused him to lose his temper there at one point. Beo was very impressive. not only a good shooter, but showed toughness and was clearly confident and ultra competitive. despite the Blue Team being at a disadvantage, his demeanor was such that he expected to win and expected to outplay Haws throughout the game. Very impressed with him.

I doubt it was a meniscus repair. Most likely just a clean up if he is planning to play this season. Meniscus repairs typically take as long or longer than ACL reconstructions to fully rehab.

I stand corrected. I had a dual meniscus repair and it required nine months, but the clean up shouldn't require a long time. Thanks for the pick up.

Couple of things:

Mika sprained his ankle coming down on Fram in practice. Super minor. Could have played on it. He does it often enough that there is no worry.

Bryant had his knee scoped. He should be ready for Princeton. Super strong and physical. Shot maker in practice prior to injury. Arguably the best player on the team. (Mika gets the other argument.)

LJ is rehabbing an ankle. Has scrimmaged in practice. Looks like a solid athlete, good distributor and good shooter. I haven't seen enough to say where he will be in the rotation but he's in the top group.

Colby shoots like that all the time in practice. He will see court time in a material way and could be the 5th guard we really need.

Beo played the best I've seen him and I don't know if it's a prediction of things to come or an aberration.

As hobbled as Aytes looked last night, he was moving well compared to when his back or hamstring are really acting up. His recent play has made him one of the top 4 bigs.

Dastrup had a rough night. His play depends on how hard he's had to run in recent practices. He doesn't have the lungs or the legs to move his 270 lbs around right now and he was tired last night. I still think he is the 5th big and climbing. I've seen him give all of the other bigs fits and he doesn't know some of the offensive or defensive sets. I love his game.

You all probably know that I love TJ. He didn't play very well last night, for him. When he's on, he can poor it in from anywhere off the catch or off the bounce and he throws the best passes for dunks ... Well except for LJ. He can guard when he wants to.

Guinn is very athletic, plays with a lot of effort, has good size, and always looks a bit out of control. He is competing with Colby for 5th guard right now but they are almost opposite looks so it might be matchup driven.

Childs is exactly what he looks like. His entire post game is jump hooks and dunks. He can dunk off almost any type of catch or contact. He rebounds outside his area and gives us a very different look from Davis and Aytes. He doesn't shoot it as well as Payton but he shoots the 3 more consistently then the other bugs not named Payton.

Only guy I love as much as Teej is Mika. He has become a vocal leader. He pushes everyone and makes them better but he does it in a way that makes the guys love him. He still has amazing post skills and can run the floor as well as Yeoli. He and Yeoli on the floor will create athletic mismatches against anyone in our league including Gonzaga.

Nick is very talented. The coaches are pushing him hard to gain control of his desire to shoot bad shots. He guards on the ball a lot better this year and I expect he will be able to stay in front of quick guards.

Defense: Quincy is really doing a good job on the three primary defenses. We will play lots of man and 2-3 but we also have a 1-3-1 again. He is working hard to get the guys to make the right switches and recover well. He creates a lot of lopsided defense drills that are getting good results. The emphasis on d will make us better this year. That said, we still run like crazy and will do so against anyone.

I can't think of more stuff but if you ask, I might have an answer.

Like Rose says, practice isn't a game and lots of guys are better in practice than in a game. That said, he loves contact, has good athleticism and size, handles well and is a shot maker.

If Bryant can man the top 1 and disrupt similar to how Kyle did last year this is a pretty good lineup for a 1-3-1. Especially if they put TJ down as the bottom 1. It could be like that U of A 1-3-1 that was devestating with Kenny Loftin roaming centerfield as the bottom 1 from the late 80's with Sean Elliot and Steve Kerr.
