all Rose does is win a lot of games. more games than any BYU coach since we've been alive - by far - but he kinda sucks and can't coach defense.

Box score said 3200. I thought that was generous. I kept expecting kids to run out and shoot hoops during timeouts or someone to walk in from outside during a time out from those exit doors behind the basket.

I kept waiting for the Bishop to come down at halftime asking for the priests to stay after to gather up the chairs.

The color guy was Casey Jacobson, the former Stanford standout.

And that sequence was ridiculous. The defender wasn't high enough to reach the ball, smacking Mika's arm instead. The announcers were impressed with the block (even though he missed the ball). But Casey did have Mika's back on the ticky-tack foul called as they went for the rebound.

Exactly. He wins games. He's had good and bad defenses. He's always had good offenses. All but a dozen programs in the country would change their last ten years for ours but our fans can't see it. The CB crowd is especially stupid.

Finally got around to watching the game off the DVR and just watched this play. Such a bad hack by the LMU guy that went uncalled, just came down right on the back of Mika's arm making him clank the ball into the rim. Crazy.

St. Mary's might be a really good matchup for Mika. That 7-foot Swede for LMU matched up but I don't think St. Mary's has anybody who can even remotely guard Mika alone. Hope he handles the double teams well.

They double in the paint constantly and recover well to contest. I think we will need a high assist count to win this one. Their defenders are well coached to dig and their bigs force awkward shots. Yo could have a huge day if Eric passes well. Expect to see a lot of 1-3-1 on D by us. Also look for the elusive Eli Bryant.

I was just thinking about that guy yesterday. His family is LDS, no?

I think the family is LDS. My understanding is Casey was raised relatively active to some extent but probably not uber active. However, my folks were at the Oakland Temple VC on a mission while Casey was at Stanford and they said he was a pretty regular visitor and the young adult ward there was frequently participating in baptisms for the dead and my dad recognized Casey there at least 4-5 times while my dad was there as a missionary. Do remember that Mark Madsen was an upperclassman on that team the two years Casey was in Palo Alto so my guess is MM was one hell of a senior companion - if you know what I mean.

I have read that Casey married an LDS girl, I think they met at Stanford, in the Temple and has been very active since he got to Palo Alto and is serving as a YM President somewhere now - although that might have been on Cougarboard so who knows how truthful it is.

Mark hosted Casey on his OV and introduced Casey to his wife who rowed and played rugby for Stanford. Casey is back at Stanford finishing his degree. He may have just finished as he was only a couple classes shy.
