So we can agree that Utah is a better job than Washington St and Oregon St. Here are Washington St and Oregon St's coaches.

Both of them had previous head coaching experience when they were hired. Ken Bone had gone to the NCAA tournament twice with Portland St. Bone also was an assistant for 3 years at Washington. In short, Ken Bone had substantially more experience when Washington St hired him.

Craig Robinson is kind of a meh candidate but still has a better resume than Rice.
In light of this, I can completely understand why you want to avoid the risk of hiring an career assistant. Why would you, when you can hire someone much safer and secure a place towards the bottom the conference? Yes, safe seems to be the logical choice.

Top-3 in the MWC would make them a top-2 team in the PAC-10 this year.
Calling an offensive set is much different than being the HC. BYU football fans should be painfully aware of this.

Yes. Sadly, we chose wrong when we went with the guy who had head coaching experience. We had much better success the next time when we hired a guy who only had experience calling defenses up to that point.

Ergo the role of luck. Nobody in their right mind could have expected things to have worked out as well as they have with both Mendenhall and Rose. In fact I'll be that back then even LA Ute! was feeling confident enough to take a few shots at the BYU wrt its future prospects for success.

I'm choosing to mostly ignore your fatuity here and instead overwhelm you with so much data that you'll maybe, just maybe, realize that you have reams to read on this subject before you can contribute meaningfully to any conversation on this topic.

I don't recall, but I am pretty confident that I was beyond magnanimous in expressing my views.

I'm starting to agree with your hire the least qualified candidate approach. In light of that, I'm still not supportive of a Dave Rice hire. I think we need to go less qualified and look at high school coaches. We also really need to start looking into dominant Junior Jazz coaches.

lol signed fan of a WCC school that has won one NCAA game in 20 years (in 2 OT against a last in SEC team). Stupid fans always think that this snapshot in time means anything. We've been to Final fours galore and had two undefeated seasons in football in thelast 7 years, beaten Alabama in the Sugar Bowl, and we're in an AQ/Major conference. The whole reason we're pissed at Boylen is we aren't a mid-major, etc.

                    You're projecting your own insecurity.

remind me of your review of 20-year history the next time you accuse us of relying on our multi-decade history in football.

                            douchebag.

Should I be impressed?? You guys are in the PAC10 and eat "mid-major" for breakfast. I expect national championships, not sweet 16 appearances.
