It was effective. However, every Republican voting for Joe Biden when his platform contradicts nearly everything on which your membership in the Republican party is likely based is puzzling. I have been thinking a lot about this, as I didn't vote Trump in 16 (McMullinOriginally posted by UVACoug View PostThat was very effective. Far more effective than anything the stupid "Lincoln Project" has put out.
) and don't think I can vote for him now. Living in Utah, I know it doesn't matter much who I vote for, but I decided to look at the Libertarian Party platform. That is something I can get behind. So yesterday I changed my voter registration to Libertarian and will vote accordingly. I am also thinking about ways that the party could be built up to chip away at the 2 party system to which we are all chained. Right now drawing a blank, except letting people in my limited sphere of influence know that I am doing it and why. I don't have the money or influence to do otherwise.
If all the turned off Republicans voted Libertarian or Constitution party, either of which more accurately reflects their political beliefs (based on the similarities) instead of Biden, the same goal would be accomplished. Trump would be removed. However additional progress would be made in strengthening minority parties. And hope against hope, the Republican Party may take notice. Then, just maybe, we would finally start to get away from the two party circle jerk in which our country has been trapped since the 1800s.“Every player dreams of being a Yankee, and if they don’t it’s because they never got the chance.” Aroldis Chapman

A viable third party will never exist as long as we have winner-takes-all, first-past-the-post elections. A vote for a third party candidate is equivalent to not voting. Either Donald Trump or Joe Biden will be president. You can help decide which of those two it will be or not.Originally posted by Copelius View PostIt was effective. Libertarians are just as silly as straight up socialists in action. I’m an ex-Libertarian. Definitely some noble principles but unwieldy in practice. Also, the Libertarian establishment has been a let down in terms of focusing on fiscal stuff at the expense of civil issues. The Koch brothers have an unfortunate influence in that circle. They’ve funded the the reason foundation and reason magazine.Originally posted by Copelius View PostIt was effective. Corn Pop invented the light bulb... didn't know that.
https://www.realclearpolitics.com/vi...ot_edison.htmlJoe Biden: Why Don't We Teach History? "A Black Man Invented The Lightbulb, Not A White Guy Named Edison"
During a town hall with residents of Kenosha, Wisconsin in the wake of riots in response to a police shooting last week, former Vice President Biden wondered why schools don't teach history in history class anymore.
"I cannot guarantee everything gets solved in four years, but I guarantee you one thing, it will be a whole heck of a lot better," he promised about his planned presidency.
"We will move a lot further down the road," he urged, citing for example: "Why in God's name don't we teach history in history classes? A black man invented the light bulb. not a white guy named Edison. Okay? There's so much. Did anybody know?"
"That Black Wall Street in Oklahoma was burned to the ground," Biden recalled. "Anybody know? We don't teach them. We have to give people facts. Teach them what is out there."

LOL... No he is not (about who invented the lightbulb and agree he should do a better job teaching history).Originally posted by Now who’s the dean? View PostHe’s right. We should do a better job teaching history. Do you dispute anything he said?
Lewis Latimer did improve Edison's lightbulb but didn't invent it:A black man invented the light bulb. not a white guy named Edison.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lewis_Howard_LatimerLatimer received a patent on January 17, 1882 for the "Process of Manufacturing Carbons", an improved method for the production of lightbulb carbon filaments.
He also wrote a book about Edison's lightbulb: https://books.google.com/books?id=Rl...page&q&f=false
So are you saying Biden's version of history is correct? This is pathetic pandering.
Edit: Black folks should be upset with this comment... Biden thinks they are dumb enough to believe this sh*t.Last edited by Uncle Ted; 09-03-2020, 08:31 PM."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.
