I just shrug my shoulders when people refer to any situation in a country of 100s of millions of people as "somebody's America". As if any situation isn't a combination of history, culture, human nature, evolution, tribalism, signaling, economics, religion, globalism, national politics, state politics, local municipality politics, natural disasters, disease, physical health, mental health, diet, spirituality, love, charity, hate, terrorism, and thousands of other factors. Anyone willing to reduce any moment in this extremely complicated and nuanced country by declaring it's someone's America is acting in bad faith and I'm unlikely to take their message seriously.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostAlways cracks me up when people show a photo of rioting and say "This is what Joe Biden's America will look like." Interesting. It's been obvious for a long time that a lot of the top brass has been displeased with Trump, but it's slightly surprising that his support is slipping among active-duty troops as well.
EDIT: in 2016, Trump led Clinton 41%-21%; he now trails Biden among that same demographic, 37%-43%. When you're an "R" and you're losing the troops on the ground...Last edited by Harry Tic; 08-31-2020, 09:02 AM.Nothing lasts, but nothing is lost.

Yeah, these make sense... The Obama/Biden administration gave them a lot of business and used up a lot of their old bombs which saved them the trouble of having to depose of them. Drumpf, on the other hand, has been drawing down their troops. This is bad for their business (of war). At this rate most of them will be on the unemployment line by the end of his second term. I'm always amazed at the number of seemingly intelligent people who say that COVID will magically disappear after the election. It's strange. I mean, we can debate how serious it is and whether or not all of the precautions taken are necessary or not. But it's kind of difficult to say it doesn't exist. And I'm assuming that going into the typical flu/cold/virus season it isn't going to be less of an issue come November.Originally posted by Non Sequitur View PostMy FIL was sincere when he told me that if Biden is elected it will take years for us to get a vaccine for COVID. He went on to assure that Trump is a smart guy and knows how to cut through all the red tape.

Did you ask him since Drumpf and Putin are buddies if the Russians would make available their vaccines to us? Those red basturds are already have their "Sputnik" vaccine and are kicking our butts!Originally posted by Non Sequitur View PostMy FIL was sincere when he told me that if Biden is elected it will take years for us to get a vaccine for COVID. This is honestly a concern for me. I think if Biden is elected, I worry that a large portion of the population won't take the vaccine when it is ready because Trump and sown so much mistrust in anything Covid related.Originally posted by Non Sequitur View PostMy FIL was sincere when he told me that if Biden is elected it will take years for us to get a vaccine for COVID. I don't think that would be much better if Trump wins. He might tell everyone to take it one day and then tweet something the next that would undermine what he said the day before.Originally posted by beefytee View PostThis is honestly a concern for me. Biden blames all the city violence on Drumpf...
Yep, it's Drumpf fault.
In other news, Dem mayors in Minnesota endorse Drumpf...
https://www.washingtontimes.com/news...-trump-slam-b/6 Minnesota Democratic mayors endorse Trump, slam Biden as 'out of touch'
Six Democratic mayors from Minnesota’s Iron Range endorsed President Trump’s reelection Friday, signing an open letter that praised the president as a champion for working-class people and slammed Democratic nominee Joseph R. Biden as “out of touch.”
“Today, we don’t recognize the Democratic Party,” the mayors wrote. “It has been moved so far to the left it can no longer claim to be advocates of the working class. The hard-working Minnesotans that built their lives and supported their families here on the Range have been abandoned by radical Democrats. We didn’t choose to leave the Democratic Party, the party left us.”
“Lifelong politicians like Joe Biden are out of touch with the working class, out of touch with what the country needs, and out of touch with those of us here on the Iron Range and in small towns like ours across our nation,” the mayors wrote.

Mayors, give Grandpa Joe a break... he is not out of touch. He just has dementia and doesn't know where he is."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

I heard a podcast with a former green beret who was just aghast at how obviously far in over his head Trump is and how he's just getting played like a fiddle by Putin. He wasn't much of a fan of Biden b/c of some 2nd amendment stuff, but he had nothing good to say about Trump-- he's just a non starter for lots of these guys.Originally posted by Harry Tic View Posthttps://www.militarytimes.com/news/p...ote-for-biden/
