The complete absence of gonadal fortitude amongst the GOP, with regards to such a slam dunk as 'the president is dead wrong about his medical advice about tylenol and vaccines', does not bode well for the numerous other crises they should be pushing back on:

Not to make make this thread about President Nelson, but the online reaction to his death from the evangelical MAGA base should be a lesson to Church members who have wrapped their own identities in the movement. For all the vapors about not showing the utmost respect for the death of Charlie Kirk they sure seem to be celebrating this death.

Play the Benny Hill theme while watching.
Have the Benny Hill theme cued up.
Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Trump made two very nice statements over the weekend. One for the passing of President Nelson and another expressing sympathy for the victims of the shooting in Michigan. I’m going to give him credit for that."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

I probably shouldn't nitpick since it was definitely in the top 1% of Trump's statements, but I rolled my eyes a bit when he said that this "appears to be yet another targeted attack on Christians in the United States". While technically true, it frames it as a fight against the godless hordes, rather than an (apparent) "Christian" who perpetuated it. It would be like saying the Charlie Kirk shooting was "another targeted attack on white Americans."Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostTrump made two very nice statements over the weekend. Having said that, I am very happy that he went against a large portion of his base and called us Christians!

This is not technically true. I was on X and many actual Christians sent their thoughts and prayers, but thought it would be a great time to correct the perception that LDS folks are actual Christians. Many also pointed out that we are going to hell for our heresy.Originally posted by Clark Addison View Post

Strictly speaking, I just got a shoutout from the President of the United States. That's something I guess. (It's barely better than an address to "My fellow Americans, but you take wins where you can.)τὸν ἥλιον ἀνατέλλοντα πλείονες ἢ δυόμενον προσκυνοῦσιν

I'm really interested to see how the political conversation around this shooter will progress. I'm not sure the veracity of these two people, but I've seen other reports that this man viewed the Church as demonic.

Great. Chance of peace in the middle east is declining precipitously:
Many people are saying the middle east process is the hottest conflict in the world right now!
