Both sides are playing a dangerous game by being performative and exaggerating the threats while minimizing their own awful behavior.

But the most scrutiny should be against the state and state authority. Lawlessness shouldn't be an excuse to abandon constitutional order. Lawlessness should be stopped within the means empowered by the state. And obstruction should not be tolerated. But there should be no tolerance for systemic abuses of power by this administration.

I’m hanging on a houseboat in Powell doing my share to quell the Wahweap civil unrest. Taking the W is hard work. I’ll muddle through. You people enjoy the LA insurrection while I’m gone.

I know you think the "take the L and chill" comment was a real spike the football moment for you. And in a way, it very much was. But eventually you'll realize you were all turned around, and you ran it into the wrong end zone. Don't worry, man. We'll be here for you when you figure it out.
Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

how can the threat be minimized if they are sending legal residents to foreign prisons against judges and SC orders.

IE how can it be exagerrated

So looting and destruction of private property is ok because of this?

In total numbers, ai tells me Obama deported 3.2 M and Trump has only done about 1.2 M. part of me wonders if Trump wants to be able to brag that "nobody deported more than me" and that is why his approach is more aggressive.
Some things that make MAGA actions more concerning including:

Ignoring due process, despite court rulings.

Wrongfully deporting people who had legal status to be in the country

Targeting students and others who engage in speech MAGA doesn't like and deporting them.

Requesting access to social media at ports and borders and scrutinizing visitors for being critical of Trump

Deporting people (some of whom who have not been "illegal") to places like El Salvador or Libya.

Nabbing people off the street cruelly.

Knowingly spreading lies such as the whole Haitians are eating dogs to inflame resentment. The rhetoric is unlike anything other recent officials have said.

Shutting down avenues for legal immigration..

Performatively offering asylum for Afrikaners but shutting it down for pretty much everyone else.

Broad embargoes for visitors from a variety of counties, all of them. Curiously all from non-white places.

Threatening to arrest the governor of a state.

ICE increasingly acting as a national police force and arresting citizens for issues not related to immigration.

Yup. Good summary of what is happening that I should think all decent Americans would find repulsive, but we're apparently not the country we used to be, which I think is tragic.

Something that can frustrating is that, if you listened to Bannon, Roger Stone, Stephen Miller, Michael Flynn etc, you could understand that these moves aren't really about an immigration crisis but rather that whole great replacement theory racist bullshit and seizing power.

Assholes like Charlie Kirk and Tucker Carlson have drumming up nativism and racism consistently.

It doesn't have to be true for him to brag that he has. The hijueputa will just start saying it and his lackeys will lap it up.

Don't be coy. ICE is part of DHS and they're using anyone who'll do it for this bullshit.

Not content with terrorizing legal immigrants, immigration authorities in LA rammed a car full of citizens, dropped a flash-bang, and detained the driver at gunpoint.

BREAKING: A few minutes ago, a vehicle of three people was rammed by a truck belonging to federal immigration authorities in Boyle Heights, CA. According to security footage shown to me, they deployed chemical munitions & detained the driver at gunpoint. All are US citizens according to the wife.
