For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Real libertarians or fake ones? Maybe Ted will appear to speak for the fake side. The actual Libertarian Party at least on their website seems to disagree with nearly everything Trump is doing.Originally posted by myboynoah View Post

Personally I agree with everything the LP is saying here except about NATO. That is the only part I think someone like Ted would agree with however.

Such idiocy. The all out war on immigrants, including those here legally is going to end up being a big negative on our country, economically and otherwise. I hate this.
The Trump administration’s efforts to strip protections from more than half a million legal immigrants could devastate the health sector, endangering care for the elderly and worsening rates of both chronic and infectious diseases.
Hundreds of thousands of health care workers, including an estimated 30,000 legal immigrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela, are at risk of being deported — worrying providers and patients who rely on them for everything from nursing and physical therapy to maintenance, janitorial, foodservice and housekeeping work.

Every libertarian think tank, foundation, or publication has been vocal about the power grabs and unconstitutional actions of the Trump admin. The mises caucus of the LP and the Rothbardians are really the only elements associated with the movement who are just terrible.Originally posted by myboynoah View Post

The GOP and MAGA were very critical, not without justification, of Biden corruption which centered on Hunter providing access to the Big Guy in exchange for board fees and purchases of Hunter's lousy paintings. Measured in dollars, the "Biden Crime Family's" ill-gotten gains are mice nuts compared to the literally hundreds of millions the Trumps are raking in through sales of his stupid cryptocurrency, club memberships, the many pardons of criminals, and private dinners (and this does't include all the stupid Trump-branded crap--watches, Bibles, sneakers, etc.). I've been looking for a defense for this vastly greater corruption, but the only thing I can find is that the Bidens did theirs in the shadows while Trump is very open about it. This, of course, isn't a defense at all, as one isn't exonerated for a crime because it was committed openly. Trump 2.0, freed from the guardrails he had the first time around, is much worse than the original.

The LP was pretty underwhelming, what with allowing Trump to speak at their convention. For a small party those elements are significant. The LP needs to be both more vocal and more effective. They need to call out professed Libertarians like the Pauls who essentially given Trump all the help he needs with offering symbolic expressions of disappoint.Originally posted by USUC View Post

We also know the fascist adjacent hard-right has been pushing to make inroads into the LP for a while. Some of those Free State Project dumb dumbs fit this bill as does Augustus Invictus Sol.
The Altright has plumbed the Libertarian pipeline for new believers for a while.

I agree with almost all of this. I am not a big believer in the LP. I think libertarians are much more effective by advocating for individual policy positions. No party in the USA is going to be libertarian. But each has certain policy positions that are libertarian (ie drug legalization on the left, free market policies on the right historically).Originally posted by frank ryan View Post

To be fair, Trump was loudly booed when he spoke at the LP convention.Originally posted by USUC View Post

It's speculated he is building a social credit system. This is real big brother shit and should terrify everyone. DOGE should've never been a things. They just ignored laws, rules etc. Talk about a Trojan horse.Originally posted by USUC View Post

Look at China for how social credit works.
