The fact that this was issued at 1 a.m. on Easter weekend hopefully suggests an unwillingness to take the Trump administration's statements in court at face value.

It's clear Trump's "art of the deal" philosophy is more "art of the PR stunt." This works in the world of entertainment when there is no downside to publicity. But it's disastrous for public policy. I wonder when, or if he figures this out.

Fundamentally and somewhat paradoxically, that's the thing Trump the self-anointed "dealmaker" obviously doesn't get: at the end of the day dealmaking is built on credibility and consistency, and America has now neither.

lol, yeah this is no surprise. They are going to follow up with the Japanese in a month. A month! If they really intend to sign 90 new trade deals in that 90-day period, the Trump team needs to get it going. What happens at the end of those 90 days when nothing has happened?

This is what happens when voters elect an "art of the deal" genius who has bankrupted six companies and never really created anything of use to society. Trump is lazy. He doesn't want to do the hard work of leading. I have done trade negotiations. They required a lot of work, and certainly a vision of where you want to be and how you expect to get there. And also an understanding that the people on the other side of the table have their own goals and vision of how they are going to get what they want. The methodology Trump used for these tariffs was clear evidence that he has no idea what he is doing. We had a full bureaucracy of trade professionals that could help him with this, but I bet they rarely truly consult that asset because their paranoia over the "deep state."

Right now Trump is coasting on the work of the Biden Administration. Those Nvidia, Hyundai, and other announced plans for investment are not because of anything Trump has done. Investment decisions at that level take years of planning and work. They are due in large part to Biden passing the Chips Act and the Inflation Reduction Act, providing investment incentives at the federal level to firms to expand the U.S. EV battery and semiconductor manufacturing base. Those two acts and other legislation took really hard work by the Biden team and by Biden himself to get across the goal line. And now we are seeing the fruits. That's what a real President does.

MAGA can and will continue to scream how "America is Back" and "finally" getting the respect we deserve across the globe, but they are wrong. Trump has undone in a matter of weeks the goodwill, respect, and trust the U.S. built up over 60+ years since WWII. I don't see how "just give it some time and something good may come of this" will ever happen.
              Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

its tragically funny that people he think he is a master deal maker, let alone that he wrote that book.

I don't think even ChatGPT could craft an Easter message less Christ-lke, or more childish, wrong, and stupid, than what our nation's president has done. That millions of his minions will shout hosannas of approval to such a shameful diatribe only compounds my depression.

I'm attaching the White House's tweet of Trump's Easter Message to the "He is Risen" tweets of every repub politician (sen, rep, gov) that has comes across my twitter feed. That's really quire satisfying.
