Jeff, because I did that with one of the dementia jokes doesn't mean that always happens. When I think about it, it's probably because has so much other concerning insidious shit going on that it would be one of the milder concerns. But the jokes seem to always imply that he is the only foggy old codger, and that whoever else is running isn't so bad in that way. And FTR, he does seem like like a reanimated corpse, McConnell is starting too as well, but Feinstein is the worst. I don't think people, aside from like 2 individuals are MAGA simps. One of Trump's accomplishments has been saying things that give scumbags the feeling that political violence mixed with a touch of racism is acceptable. But this kind of bullshit behavior is not ok. I favor throwing the book at anyone who threatens to kill over politics. It's insane and at least right now is coming almost exclusively from the extreme right. Enough is enough.

One significant thing that has come from MAGA has been the right's ability to organize and coalesce. Legitimate hate groups have been tolerated if not embraced by previously mainstream elements of the GOP.
The movement is immune to legit criticism. Otherwise normal people have such an anemic diet they dismiss legitimate news that isn't hagiographic as false. The term mainstream media shouldn't be a slur. They get stories right about more than bobble-headed Ben Shapiro or a parade of Trumpists dressed as a news network like OAN or Newsmax. Do you guys remember the last time those outlets broke a massive, important story? Neither do I.
People like Tucker Carlson, Matt Walsh, and Charlie Kirk are thought leaders and increasingly say the quiet part out load. Spouting the Nazi "Great Replacement" theory (and yes, it is a theory sprouted by and touted by modern fascists). In previous years, those three would be outliers.
Most of the Republican votary believes disproven election conspiracy theories.
