This is a bad faith response. 1- Benefits are always relevant. 2- Your strawman approach of comparing the discussion of expanding American presence in Greenland to the absurdity of annexing England misrepresents and oversimplifies the issue. 3- Dismissing the argument as silly without providing a rational counterargument contributes nothing. 4- Ad hominem dismissing anything I post without rebuttal due to the incorrect belief that Trump is 'my guy' is weak.

Why is asking Greenland to be sold a viable thing? It's a s realistic as asking to annex Canada or England. It is totally absurd. Yes Greenland has strategic value against Russia so does all of Europe. Why does it make sense to talk about taking one county and not another

You are far far too generous to MAGA and Trump. Let's not do rhetorical gymnastics to make his antics seem normal. Trump has not shown a capacity to deal with geopolitics in an educated or nuanced manner.

Man, there is nothing about Trump's posturing that makes sense. Threatening and bullying our most loyal allies stinks of America's worst behaviors and it reinforces Trump's idiocy.

Just the bellicose talk is problematic. I get people thinking Trump's antics are silly or adorable (in a dawdling kind of way) but it's not. He sounds like a bully telling our ally he wants to buy a territory, which is actually an entirely separate nation with a high degree of autonomy. They don't want to be "purchased by America."

Now our ally will probably game plan and withhold intelligence.

Trump has damaged NATO and seems intent on tearing it up. That is hugely detrimental.

Trump is the epitome of the ugly American. Threatening Mexico, Canada, now Panama. Sheesh. Those are probably half the countries he could point out an a map.

I think the Trump admin will America at war before they are said and done.

Trump does things that favor Israel and Russia. It will be interesting to see what happens when those nations have interests that conflict. Iran could be such a flash point.

The issue with Trump and his less crazy policy thoughts hasn't changed since day 1. No matter how sensible his policy proposals might be, he is incapable of articulating them in a rational way that would convince most people of the benefits. When he drops his tweets oozing with pwning libs normal people just reject them out of hand. And then when someone tries to sane wash what he says, even if it's coherent and is sensible, that person automatically gets ridiculed. Then you have the other Trump apologists who just go on TV and laugh it off with 'he is who he is', or 'can't you people take a joke?'. And then it gets forgotten. And then the next day of political theater starts with a new crazy tweet.

People need to stop doing that. We should not need an oracle to translate neurotic gibberish and people keep putting themselves in logical knots to try and and normalize what is everything but ordinary or understandable.

I love the debate. It's refreshing to see it play out in public, potentially contributing to better policy. It's seems pretty clear that the H1B has been abused and used to suppress wages for American workers, but it has also been vital for talent recruitment, etc.

The Cold War dynamics would have been significantly impacted had the purchase of Alaska not occurred. I'm sure the critics of that purchase were as confident in its absurdity as you are of even discussing acquisition of Greenland.

Greenland is different than the other areas due to its low population, natural resources, strategic location along the arctic, partial reliance on Denmark for subsistence, and complete reliance on foreign governments for defense.
