Hey if either one of those is any more qualified than Hegseth (I still can't believe this is happening) I'll gladly support them."...you pointy-headed autopsy nerd. Do you think it's possible for you to post without using words like "hilarious," "absurd," "canard," and "truther"? Your bare assertions do not make it so. No idea. I don't know who they are. I'm just riffing on Ted's post since he's playing the what about game.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View Post

The one on the left is the surgeon general. The one on the right had a position in the White House.Originally posted by Northwestcoug View Post

Yesterday was the first time I’d really heard of Hegseth. Appointing him as SecDef seems like a pretty strong rebuke of the military industrial complex that got us into 20 years of war. I’m not sure he’s the right guy to steer the ship, but I understand the intent behind the pick. I think we underestimate the resentment/antipathy towards the professional military class held by many who enlisted in the GWOT.

Completely unqualified is subjective. I'm sure he's as qualified as Pete Buttigieg or Jake Sullivan were for their positions. I'm not saying he's the best pick and I suspect he won't make it through the confirmation process. But I appreciate bringing on a Guardsman who doesn't sit on a major prime board. This kind of sums up how I feel about the nomination.Originally posted by Maximus View PostCome on. You really said not sure this completely unqualified dude is the right pick or not?

I don't support unqualified support for Ukraine and I suspect you don't either.

I think it has a lot to do with policy. They share a disdain of DEI and it making equity of results the litmus test of equality of opportunity. He has real world experience on the ground in the military as a company grade officer and insight to how the efforts to socially engineer our society impact the fighting capacity of the military. I think he lacks the experience to be helpful in strategic concerns and he also lacks the organizational leadership experience at high enough levels to likely bring to fruition the change he is charged with bringing to pass- but make no mistake that he shares Trump's policy objectives wrt the Department of Defense.Originally posted by Maximus View Postit has nothing to do with trumps view on war and everything to do with loyalty.

I'm choosing to mostly ignore your fatuity here and instead overwhelm you with so much data that you'll maybe, just maybe, realize that you have reams to read on this subject before you can contribute meaningfully to any conversation on this topic.

I really don’t have an opinion on Hegseth becasue I don’t follow or know much about the DoD. But I find it telling that liberals are calling him a fox and friends host in a way that makes it sound like he’s not Ivy League educated and spent twenty years in the military."Discipleship is not a spectator sport.
