I see that McConnel was the lone republican who took seriously the risk RFK Jr. poses to the US and epidemics. It took a polio survivor to understand that constant vigilance is needed to keep preventable infectious diseases at bay. I can't do much better than this succinct reply:
Even Cassidy, a pediatric gastroenterologist for crying out loud, voted for him. So new respect for the senator from Kentucky, although I wonder if he regrets not whipping up GOP votes, or at least voting himself for impeachment when he had the chance.
We are about to see how much the constant anti-vax/anti-science minority of the nation can erase two hundred years of vaccine benefits. There may be a bright side; if more Americans die from preventable illnesses they won't live to an age where they have to worry about chronic illness!
“Individuals, parents, and families have a right to push for a healthier nation and demand the best possible scientific guidance on preventing and treating illness,” it read in part. “But a record of trafficking in dangerous conspiracy theories and eroding trust in public health institutions does not entitle Mr. Kennedy to lead these important efforts.”
The senator said he could not “condone the re-litigation of proven cures.”
