Oh brother, your supposed criticism of Trump was very weak at best and almost certainly wrong. There's a process for declassification which Trump never followed (and if he had, his top advisers would almost certainly have put on the brakes). If one could declassify ex post facto without any formal confirmation, as Trump now claims to have done to documents he once said he didn't have and then said he returned but hadn't, then literally everything that comes across a president's desk is, in effect, unclassified. The national security people, and certainly citizens working undercover in other countries on our behalf, are terrified at the notion that what you wrote is accurate, or that a president on his own motion can reveal nuclear secrets, foreign agent identities, etc.

I seem to recall that the classification of the documents doesn’t even matter under whatever act the FBI used to justify the raid. They just have to be sensitive, so if he declassified then that doesn’t give him the right to keep them and not return them.

He still has the GOP by its throat but at the same time he's a drag on it. And the more info comes out about the Mar a lago thing, the worse it sounds for him. As long as he's front and center the Repubs are in a not so great position going into the midterms. Some analysts are now even saying that not only do the dems hold and even increase in the Senate, but may even hold the house which was unthinkable just a few months ago. If the GOP at that point still can't cut Trump loose then they can forget being relevant for a long time. I wish a third party could take hold here but our system makes that nearly impossible.
