Yeah, Russian Blackwater, basically. Only with more Nazis and white supremacy.
I have serious moral qualms with mercenaries. I remember after our deployment to Iraq, some of our soldiers went to work for Blackwater so they could make extra money (no thanks!)
I'm sure the soldiers that I knew did good (competent) work for Blackwater, but the bar was low for many that Blackwater hired.

This is an infantry task. When I was a combat engineer, we trained and performed many infantry tasks. Trench warfare was not one of them, but we did train on clearing bunkers, particularly when those bunkers were on the high ground. Much of our focus was urban terrain warfare. There's always cross-over, and I could see some elements of urban terrain, and how we clear a room. The doorway is the "fatal funnel". Don't get caught in the fatal funnel.

Combat engineers are nuts. "Let me operate this bulldozer with a giant bulletproof vest behind me."

That seems about right for how this war is going. Lose control because of course you did.

I've seen this slogan popping up more and more: "Surrender or die."

                      • Ukraine claims to have slain almost 1,000 Russian troops yesterday and destroyed a metric fuckton of equipment.

                        • In case you don't know the origins of the "WELCOME TO UKRAINE, CYKA!" quote that shows up in songs and videos:

For example, there's this little ditty (NSFW due to language):
