  • I have no words. Sadly, all believable.

    Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

After the latest horrors, that train station attack in particular, how can Israel and Germany not do everything possible against Russia? The train station attack is a clear terrorist attack. How can Israelis not see themselves lying on the ground in blood given their history? Just appalling that they remain on the fence.

I hate the result, but wasn't the train station a valid target? If your opponent can't move, he can't fight.

Blowing up a municipal train station would have minimal strategic military value. Blow up a bridge or something.

The Russians bragged about it until the civilian death toll became public. Then they claimed it was staged by the Ukrainians. Bastards.

          • And let’s be clear, when you invade a country with no legitimate provocation, and have a goal to erase that country’s existence, every act of war in that invasion is fundamentally evil.

            • I'm convinced this is genocide. They won't be so brazen as to burn them in ovens, but they're trying to eradicate Ukrainians.

If we were talking about most countries, I would agree. But Ukraine and Russia have extensive rail systems because under the USSR, trains were how stuff got moved, not roads. The railway system is still a significant method of moving military equpment. Kramatorsk is last link to the hotter contested areas in Luhansk. Disrupt that, and you disrupt the ability of UA to reinforce.

EDIT: I checked over the reports of the last few days. A day before they shelled the train station, they damaged the railway west of Slovyansk, so that region had already been cut off by rail. Attacking the train station was unnecessary, likely to result in civilian casualties, and a dick move. My objection is withdrawn, and I'm willing to stipulate to the bastardry of Russians.

                        • Ukrainian MP's view on the train attack.

Ukrainian MP Oleksiy Goncharenko has spoken to the BBC live from Sumy, in the north-east of Ukraine, about how unsafe humanitarian escape routes in the region are.

"The whole world saw yesterday how these corridors are working," he said, referring to a deadly rocket attack at a railway station in the city of Kramatorsk on Friday.

"Russians very cynically first bombed railways so that people could not leave these cities.

"When it became very crowded there, because people were waiting for trains, they attacked the railway station itself... And we've had 52 killed, including five children."

"So we see how humanitarian corridors work when we're speaking of Vladimir Putin."

                            • Pretty incredible that Boris Johnson went to visit Zelenski in Kyiv. Serious respect.

Even better, sending armored vehicles and anti-ship missles. Gradually upping the support. Why can't we get those Mig 29s to Ukraine? We've already crossed the line.
