I know. How can the world let this continue in full sight? They are savages, not worthy of our company. We can't let Putin hold us hostage just because he has nukes. A response would need to be a coalition of the world--not the US.Originally posted by myboynoah View Post

I think the world should openly call for a regime change in Russia, with the promise of being welcomed back in to full fellowship on conditions.

I'm beyond caring that Russia has nukes. Putin needs to be stopped, and if takes the U.S. intervening I'm fine with it. We're a super-power. We need to start acting like one.Last edited by Non Sequitur; 04-03-2022, 09:10 AM."The mind is not a boomerang. If you throw it too far it will not come back." ~ Tom McGuane

I was so naive. I actually thought the Russians would see some kind of reflection of themselves in the Ukrainians. I didn't realize they have no souls. The troops that carried out the atrocities in northwest Kyiv were the elite troops, the best trained. And still the worst of humanity.Originally posted by myboynoah View Post
This speaks to a big challenge for Russian troops moving forward. They have invaded a people who look like them, speak like them, dress like them, etc. They look at the Ukrainians and its like looking in a mirror. The men, the women, the children could be their fathers, their mothers, their brothers, their sisters, their sons and daughters, their wives and husbands. Ukrainians can readily confront and argue with the Russian soldiers. That's got to wear on a person. It's not like going to a totally different culture (think U.S. soldiers in Viet Nam or Iraq) with a different language where one could easily "other" the people one has invaded.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

And those elite troops experienced a high mortality rate. So they decided to get even with the people.Originally posted by myboynoah View Post

C'mon Israel, you need to do better. Really embarrassing.
In Rare Rebuke, Israeli Envoy Blasts 'War Crimes' After Russian Forces Flee Ukraine's Bucha
Asked if the Foreign Ministry’s official position was that Russia had committed war crimes in Ukraine, a spokesman replied: “No. It’s a tweet by the ambassador regarding the photos. He didn’t blame Russia.”Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

I know. Lots of Ukrainian immigrants in Israel, but lots of Russians as well.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View Post
That’s an unreal response. I don’t get it.
Israel has been so milquetoast during this war, hesitant to condemn Russia and measured in its responses. Disgusting, considering how much they elevate their history coming out of the holocaust. I have no problem with keeping those memories alive and close, but why not make good use of those at this time? Unbelievable.
I bet they made some deal with Russia after John Kerry opened the door for Russia to operate in Syria (has there been a more feckless Secretary of State than John Kerry?). Russia probably lets Israel bomb Iranian ammo and staging facilities in Syria, and may even provide some intel on Iranian movements, for other concessions from Israel (like staying mute on this war).Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

And hypocritical. When they downplay the war crimes in Ukraine, they downplay the war crimes from WWII.Originally posted by myboynoah View Post

At a minimum, we need to get food supplies to the many on the verge of starvation. How many thousands will die before we begin to look back with regret that we should have acted more decisively?Originally posted by Non Sequitur View PostI'm beyond caring that Russia has nukes.
