Germany isn’t exactly the most impressive country in making any kind of rational decisions. They literally created their own mess by going along with Nord Stream 2, which would have made them so dependent on Russian gas that Russia would have even more leverage on them. Thankfully that all got killed with the sanctions but you know someone dumb over there is making these decisions when even Trump calls them out on it, which he did several times.

It does baffle me how little they consider any type of concentration risk with this stuff. Maybe they figured it would be a short lived period where they’d be exposed to a handful of gas providers until they could go 100% renewable, but exposure is exposure and Russia is still getting paid because of it.

Seems incredibly ironic that Germany and Israel are both tied so tightly to Russia that their response has been muted/restrained when Russia is behaving exactly like Nazi Germany.

As I noted above, it's not really fair to put Israel and Germany in the same category. As for Germany, this is what happens when you delegate your energy policy to a 15 year old Swede.

The paths may be different, but the outcomes are the same.

I cut Germany a certain amount of slack, because of their overwhelming reliance on Russian oil, gas and coal. They shouldn't have gotten themselves in that position, but now that they are in that position they're kind of forced to play along to a certain degree.

The UN is a joke, but kudos anyway.

Awesome. Now continuing HRC members China, Cuba, DR Congo, Uganda, and Venezuela have the moral high ground.

Took me a while to figure out what Hillary had to do with this.

Ha, that's good. I thought of that movie (the original version) when this whole thing started.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

                            • Our old stake president and his wife just got called to a 3 month mission to Romania. It was done at the drop of a hat and they are already over there. They are helping run the church’s efforts with the Ukrainian refugees. I thought that was pretty cool.
