"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf
Putin's biggest concern is maintaining his grip on power. An increasingly democratic and west-leaning Ukraine emboldens his opponents and jeopardizes his power and wealth so he'd like to bring Ukraine back into the Soviet fold. But if he invades, he has to hope for a quick win with minimal casualties. If the Ukrainians (as I strongly expect) engage the Russians in a protracted war, even if only a guerilla conflict, I think most Russians will ask, "Why?", and Putin may not last long. He's walking a very thin tightrope here.
I’m certainly no expert, but I’ve always thought the east half of the Ukraine sympathizes a lot with Russian. My BiL served his mission in Donetsk and was Russian speaking. I’m not justifying what Putin is doing but it wouldn’t surprise me if there’s some support within those regions of the Ukraine for annexation to Russia.
Lets hope Biden is better at foreign policy than he is as domestic policy.
Biden is in an impossible position, but I thank God he's the one in that position and not Trump, because we all know that were Trump in power, Putin would be getting nothing more than a wink and a thumbs up. We already have Tucker Carlson telling listeners that we should be backing Russia over Ukraine and dipshits like Paul Gosar saying we shouldn't worry about Russia invading Ukraine because in our country we have people south of the border invading the U.S. (albeit not with tanks). The vast majority of GOP loyalists are not as stupid as Tucker Carlson and Paul Gosar. They simply stay silent on whether to support a totalitarian regime over a democracy and go straight to the "It's Biden's fault" slogan.

Alex Vindman had a pretty good analysis of what he expects Putin's strategy to be. In short, Putin is most likely to seek the total elimination of Ukraine as a viable state.

Interesting. Apparently Putin's long speech yesterday was almost entirely about how Ukraine shouldn't really be considered a separate country from Russia.

So Putin’s army rolls in the Ukraine and the response from America is to put sanctions just on the areas where they invaded? Like, so we are just going to let them take eastern Ukraine like they did crimea?

Other sanctions are happening now. For example, Germany halted the natural gas pipeline that was going to serve much of europe.

You mean the nord stream 2 pipeline that comrade Biden let his buddy Putin do? This could be bad. Who is Hunter going to sell his art to now?

Tedbot needs a reboot.

Ukraine belongs to Russia and who gives a flying flip what the Ukrainians think about it! I think that's the official Putin/Trump/Tucker Carlson position.
