Don't mess with Idaho. They don't call it the River of No Return for No reason!

If he was a deserter, or simply AWOL, that will all come out. Or maybe there's another story that is true. I think it would be fair to him to clear his name, if he deserves that, rather than leave a cloud over his head for the rest of his life. If he violated the Uniform Code of Military Justice, he should be punished. Maybe he'll get 30 days of confinement like the Korean War deserter. I just wonder if the system will be allowed to work.
From what I've read and heard, I think at a minimum he is guilty of desertion, but what do I know. He is not the most popular person at Ft. Sam - He supposedly has to have a two person escort at all times for his own safety

I personally think he will get credit for the time he was in Taliban hands and a bad discharge (Bad Conduct or Dishonorable) and won't serve any time in a military detention faculity

Desertion and misbehavior before the enemy. I think 5 years possible for the first charge, and possible lifetime for the second. Sentencing would follow after a guilty plea.

I don't think he should get life, his brain and personality will be permanently scrambled because of his captivity. He should do some time though.

Good! - I was afraid they were going to let him plea to a lesser charge.

Now there is this kid - His career is probably over - if he ever wanted one

The U.S. Military Academy released a statement Tuesday after a recent graduate posted photos of himself with pro-communist messages hidden under his uniform and cover while still a cadet.

I'd be extremely surprised if he still has a security clearance.

You can't function as an officer with out a clearance.

called it - DD and no jail time

President Trump tweeted Friday that Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl's sentence-- a dishonorable discharge, but no prison time for leaving his post in June 2009 -- was a "complete and total disgrace."
