Now if there are questions concerning the veracity of his autobiography (and it seems like it's just more than the West Point story), what do voters have to support him? That he's a decent person? Great. Because he really is a subpar politician who tends to whiff on a lot of softballs. And if he's embellishing his story, then he should get his Fox News Channel gig secure, because voters won't take to kindly to allegations of lying.
What makes Carson any different than Dear Leader in this regard? Carson at least did something in his life before running for POTUS.

Are you saying being a senator and Sec. of State qualifies someone to be POTUS? Make your case.

Okay. Now tell us why being a senator and Sec. of State qualifies anyone to be POTUS.

            • I think between Clinton and Trump (and Carson I suppose) there is a pretty good chance the next President will have never won an election of any type before.

I would still probably vote for any Republican but Carson is a nut. The dude wrote an autobiography full of all kinds of made up stuff, probably the stories he told people for years that he eventually maybe started to believe himself.

The sad thing is that there are plenty of good Republican Governors with solid track records: Kasich, Christie, Bush, Jindal. Really sucks that they can't get together and support one of those dudes.

I still wager it will be Rubio and Kasich as the ticket.

Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

Clinton has won an election. But I agree, Carson is a nut, however I'm not convinced he made up those stories. Wasn't the Politico thing debunked? The Yale story, while the dumbest thing I've ever seen the media try to corroborate (including Obama's birth certificate), hasn't been proven false either. That ABC news article certainly has little evidence pointing that it's a false story.

                  • I realize things have changed a lot since 1992, but when during that campaign did Ross Perot jump in the fray? If the choice is really Clinton or Carson then I could see a reasonable independent (I don't know anyone that fits this description, but there must be someone) jumping in next Spring and being a real threat.

That was dumb of me to forget about Clinton's senate election. She would be the sanest of the Dems obviously.

I guess we'll just disagree on Carson. If you are an academic doctor and you write in a book that you got a scholarship to West Point but you never applied to West Point then I would call that a lie. He knows how things work and knows it's not true. Not a single friend can be located who remembers a violent act of his as a kid? Think about the major events that happened to you in school -- you couldn't find a single person to corroborate any of them?

It's an interesting thing -- he may have told lies about his life long enough that he started to believe them -- but if you publish a book with a bunch of lies about your life I'm sorry but you shouldn't be President. Too weird.

One of the main reasons I don't lie about my life or publish books.

It's okay. Given that she never accomplished anything of note while in the Senate it's hard to remember that she ever served there. I'm still waiting for someone to point out an accomplishment of hers while in political office. The silence is deafening.

Contrast Hillary with John Kerry. Kerry comes in and all of the sudden the US has an embassy in Cuba and we've negotiated a nuclear agreement with Iran. Freakin' Iran. Like, the Iran that hates our guts. The only thing I remember from Clinton's sojourn as SoS is that she took a "reset" button to Putin...which is funny considering how that relationship has deteriorated worse in her 4 years than the entirety of Bush's time as president. Clinton is an ineffectual entity...but she's a democrat and a woman in 2015-2016 and a Clinton so she will be president.

I read she also flew around a bunch as Sec of State...like more than any previous secretary. So she's pretty awesome at dealing with jetlag and stuff.

                            • John Kerry is responsible for the softening of the Cuban embargo and for the nuclear treaty with Iran? Lol. Cool. Thank goodness for john Kerry.

Yeah I scratched my head at that too. In his current role it is appropriate that Kerry resembles a muppet.
