      • What despicable human beings.

        Here is what Obama said:

“I believe I speak for every single American when I say we are horrified over these events, and we stand united with the people and the police department in Dallas”
Uh, yeah, many in the BLM movement don't really appear to be horrified.

Where are all those SJWs who are so adamant that the words we use matter....you know the ones who just wait for some attack and are eager to lay the blame of the latest violence on Limbaugh, Beck, and Levin (I don't like any of these individuals and am in no way defending the content of any of their speech)?

        • I posted my thoughts on my FB wall this morning. I figured I'll paste them here. Pardon the lack of paragraphs, sometimes Facebook does't play well with my return key. I apologize for the run-on sentences and also to Dhole for any grammar and punctuation errors.

It's clear there's a subset of police that are bad cops and incapable of doing their job in a reasonable manner. It's clear that there's a subset of the black population that are thugs who put cops on edge which unfortunately makes life hell for the majority of black citizens who are fine and upstanding people. It's clear that there are politicians who will use these tragedies to make political hay for personal benefit. It's clear that rather than reporting facts the media pushes agendas. It's clear that there are community leaders who seek to divide rather than unite, have used racial strife for personal gain, and are every bit, if not more, culpable as the bad cops and the black thugs. (I'm referring to the Jesse Jacksons and the Al Sharptons of the world who's activism in no ways resembles that of Martin Luther King.) It's clear that certain communities haven't caught the vision that America is a melting pot and fight assimilation while bucking against the rule of law and refusing to be patient and take a legal path to citizenship. It's clear that there are many who are leaches on society and abuse the welfare system and that there's a group of bleeding hearts that enable them. It's clear that the left and the right have lunatics at their extremes who possess far too much political power. It's clear that both parties have offered up terrible presidential candidates neither of whom can occupy any kind of moral high-ground. It's clear that America has a lot of problems that need to be ironed out. It's clear that America is still a better place to live than almost anywhere else on the planet and that in spite of its problems is still the land of the free and home of the brave.

              • Another CSer had this on his FB feed. It is one of the few things on facebook that has made me reflect and ponder its significance in a long time.

"Instead of saying all lives matter, Jesus said, “Samaritan lives matter.”

Instead of saying all lives matter, Jesus said, “Children’s lives matter.”

Instead of saying all lives matter, Jesus said, “Gentile lives matter.”

Instead of saying all lives matter, Jesus said, “Jewish lives matter.”

Instead of saying all lives matter, Jesus said, “Women’s lives matter.”

Instead of saying all lives matter, Jesus said, “Lepers’ lives matter.”

Even though Jesus loved everyone, even to the point of dying for their sins, he went out of his way to intentionally help specific groups of people — the alienated, mistreated, and those facing injustice.

So saying “Black Lives Matter” is one of the most Christ-like things we can do." —Stephen Mattson

Thumbs up on your post especially the last two sentences.

I was so impressed last night with an interview with a young Black protestor. He said he was terribly saddened over the recent deaths of those who were shot by the police and that is why he was protesting. He went on to say the Dallas police were great. They were cordial to the protestors and he said the police are here to help us protest peaceably.

He was deeply saddened the police were shot and some died. He then said we have a lot of problems to solve, but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else in the world. Bravo young man.

Here is the difference Stephen Mattson is totally missing. Jesus never got angry if some group claimed their lives matter.

                    • We must restore law and order. We must restore the confidence of our people to be safe and secure in their homes and on the street.

The senseless, tragic deaths of two motorists in Louisiana and Minnesota reminds us how much more needs to be done….Our nation has become too divided. Too many Americans feel like they’ve lost hope. Crime is harming too many citizens. Racial tensions have gotten worse, not better. This isn’t the American Dream we all want for our children.

This is a time, perhaps more than ever, for strong leadership, love and compassion. We will pull through these tragedies.
                      ...
                      Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Fair enough, but my comment had more to do with the despicable folks who were cheering and taunting police officers. I didn't see any reports of individuals cheering the shootings that led up to this event. If it did happen, those folks are among the worst of humanity.

That picture is awesome. It is like Jon McNaughton's rival from the left painted a crappy picture.

That's actually a bit more respectable than a McNaughton piece since it does little to pretend it's not a political cartoon.

                              • Aside from the tragedy, another issue that will linger is the decision to place a bomb on a robot to kill one the snipers. I mean, holy shit!
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”
